Too Much TV
I live with my mother and step father. They stay upstairs, I stay downstairs. However, they have several resources up there, such as food, and a door to get out. They work full time jobs during the day. The instant they get home, the TV is on full blast. It bugs the hell out of me.
You'd think this would be something I could easily ignored. However, it affects the way they talk and what they talk about. Every real world issue is becoming some kind of ploy, as if we were all playing 'Survivor.'
To show you how bad it is, I'll take, for example, my car. It's been having troubles. My mom bought it for me to become a good mechanic, as well as a reliable car to get me around. I've been diagnosing it constantly. There are two possible culprits. The headgasket, or the water pump. Today I ordered a new water pump. My mother, with absolutely no mechanical experience or insight, says "I think it's a headgasket because it's probably less suspicious." WHAT THE ****?
My parents seem to love animals, we have two dogs and two cats. To them, it is a big TV show in action. They are constantly personifying them. For example, a quote "Tiger tried to get onto the table, but Valerie swatted him down because she claimed it for herself." Then they went even further to say "You know what I think would make a great show? A show where they give dog people a cat and cat people a dog." "Oh yeah, that would be interesting."
****. HELP!

man, my dad does this thing when he's driving were he waves his feet between the gas and brake...but you dont get it, he'll do it like hes waving really fast for hours and hours...I never noticed it till a month or so ago, but now that I've noticed, I cant even look in the direction or him or else I'll see his foot waving out of the corner of my eye and I'll start complaining about it and he'll be like "IF I DONT DO IT I'LL CRASH!!!!!"

The sad fact is that you will become your parents. I thought it wouldn't happen to me, but it did. Now I'm that guy you don't want to be behind in traffic.
Fortunately, you have about 20 years before that happens to you. I think you ought to give your Mom credit for buying you that AWESOME car you have! She could have gotten you a Corolla...

Don't you two even start.
My mom is 52 years old. She puts her hands on the wheel at 10 and 2, which is ok. But then she almost brushes up against the steering wheel, worse than an old lady. She goes 30 in a 45. If I say something, she just goes "Well I don't want a ticket." to which I reply "You're going to get a ticket for driving too slow!" She sometimes comes to a complete stop at a green light ON THE HIGHWAY.
I'm a reasonable driver. I set cruise control for 4 over, I give the person in front of me 3 seconds, and I don't go whipping around corners or through parking lots (When other cars are around). The way she drives is just rediculous. And it only gets worse when she drives our big *** truck.
But let's start with the TV thing, since I never ride with her anymore.

The good news is when you get to college you'll realize that their idiosyncricies don't have to determine your life. If you stick it out and get your degree you'll be free forever, then they can be as weird as they wanna be.
When I was growing up, my dad would go out all day Saturday and drink while my mom stayed home all day and drank. Without fail when he came home my mom had an all night argument all prepared and waiting for him. So count your blessings.

Having troubles is an understatement...
Sorry, but I thought that was funny
Umm... about the TV deal. Play a cruel trick on them. Trace the cable from their TV and find an old VCR. Put some tiny toons on nonstop. Or hook it up to your computer for 24/7 porn

But true, this wasn't a problem when I worked at a restaraunt. I'd work 5-9 so I'd leave just before they get home, and get home just after they fell asleep.

when I reached 17 I couldnt wait to get out of the house, everything my dad did annoyed the crap out of me. So soon as I turned 18 I left, i'm 23 now and I havent looked back since. But the one good thing is my relationship with my dad got even better than when I lived at home.
I think for some people it's just a part of growing up

I watch TV all the time - in fact TV is what raised me
- But I only watch PBS, and the Discovery channels
- I do like cartoons and Anima - Like whats on Adult swim
and some times the news and the Scifi channel
But thats all I watch - no sitcoms,no gameshows, no sports
ect ect -
Its a built in thing to dis like your parents - its natural,
its natures way of making you leave home - so that
you go out and have a family on you own - it also works
to make you hate you sister and brothers - so there is no
in breading - sadly here in Arkansas nature does not
always work
