Question...Jaguar, Daimler, Ford...

Not to open a can of worms....

Jaguar was bought by Ford, right? ok... so Jag belongs to Ford...

So what is that Daimler car that looks EXACTLY like a Jaguar but is a tiny bit longer (this is what I was told, basically a few inches longer for more room inside, like limo version)...

So how does the DaimlerC X Jag X Ford triangle of love work?

Daimler: http://www.jagclub.net/images/Daimler%201996.jpg
Jag : http://www.jagclub.net/images/jag96-2.jpg

I'm not particularly fond of any of them, I was just thinking the other day I remembered my grandparents have a Daimler in switzerland, and I was reading about Range Rovers getting Jag electronics and Jag engines (since both RR and Jag are Ford) and I got confused

That pic looks like someone photochopped out the Jaguar hood ornament.

The Daimler name at Jaguar it means the same thing like Vanden Plas in USA, only in other markets. It's another one too, Sovereign. I Europe they don't use the cat ornament for safety reasons. This car does not have Ford parts. All electric parts are Lucas. Here a picture of my car(1995 Vanden Plas):

Vanden Plas is just one of the variations of Jaguar AND Daimler. Since 60's, both companies are exactly the same for god knows what reason. Since Ford owns Jag since something like '89, that means that Daimler has quite a few parts that are Ford.
And what do you mean safety reasons for absense of car ornament? Jag has one in Europe and so does Rolls-Royce.

The Daimler-Chrysler group and the Daimler of Jaguar have nothing to do with each other.

Quote:
In 1960 Jaguar purchased the motor pioneer firm of Daimler. Jaguar needed more space and Daimler had a large factory in Coventry, to which engine manufacture would subsequently be transferred.

Source : http://www.jaguar.co.uk/uk/en/compan.../1953_1963.htm

So the name comes just from overtake from the Daimler factory by Jaguar. The Daimler brand though got into an alliance with Chrysler. I guess you could compare it a bit to what happened to Rolls Royce. VW bought the factory and BMW the badge...

So the name Daimler within Jaguar signifies the top of the range models from Jaguar. Jag's Daimler is nothing more than a name that has lived on from Jaguar's history from the 60's.

Being a Russian Jew myself, I am quite aware, either way that comment didn't make much sense. Oh well, moving on.

Didn't notice anyone claiming that, after all its hard to confuse Ford with anything DaimlerChrysler.
