Why the Religious Right is Stupid
http://www.planetout.com/news/articl...e=2005/08/31/2
Bad enough Jerry Falwell said that 9/11 was OUR fault as a country allowing Jews and Gays to reside here.
When will people who follow these nuts realize that they, along with the believers, are ******* assholes and are NOT decent human beings worth saving by Jesus.

I want to know who actually follows these nuts? Because aside from a few I've heard call in on talk radio they dont really seem to have a following.

You are kidding me, right? Religious Right are not sitting on oil fields, yet they are getting money and good money at that. And that money comes from the followers. You might want to find out what kind of rates people are willing to pay to hear famous religious right speakers, the numbers are absurd. If they really didn't have any support, you would not be hearing about them quite as often and sure as heck they would have no influence whatsoever in D.C. which obviously is not the case.

I do not think that all "religious" people should be grouped together. No matter what "group" you fall into there will be people in there with you that you do not agree with and cast a bad light on you. I am a Pastor and I am not "religious", I just have a relationship with Jesus. I do consider myself conservative though.
Just as being in a garage doesn't make you a car, being in a church does not make you a christian. Please do not view all Christians in the same light. Some of us do try to love everyone. We do have to call sin what it is. That goes for christians and non-christians. We will all be judged by a just God one day. I want Jesus on my side.

The extreme religious nut jobs do have a following, but thats about it, they don't hold much power of anything. Just a few (relatively) people. One example would be Fred Phelps who "Thanks God for Katrina," because
Quote:
New Orleans, symbol of America, seen for what it is: a putrid, toxic, stinking cesspool of fag fecal matter.
Sure he has a following but no one gives a rats *** about what he says etc. Everyone know he is just scared he is gay because his son turned out gay. Talk about irony.

You can't have your cake and eat it.
If you live in a democracy, live by it.

that kinda does not apply, "rule of God" and democracy are incompatible, tolerating people talking about is not the same as following it.

I'm jewish, and while I am pretty strict when it comes to my religion, I do not make my political descisions based on what a book that was written over 5000 years ago says, or what some scholar thinks. I make up my own mind by using my own sence of morality, and right and wrong.

on that note. the thing about morality is it changes with time.
What we think is 'moral' wasnt moral before and will even change in time.
For ex: about 60 years ago women couldnt wear shorts, now they can walk around butt-*** naked.
also, homosexuality was common hundreds of years ago (ie old greeks) then it was unacceptable, now its acceptable.
Morality changes with social acceptance. So what is really "right" or "wrong". Where do we find out what is right and wrong? Just something i was pondering on...
