I just recieved this email from a co-worker. And I know there are more than a few members either impacted by Hurricane Katrina or close to it. Our small town is sometimes known as "Racecity USA" with over 60 Nascar Shops in a 10 mile area. We went thru Hugo many years ago and being so far inland we still got slammed.
That would be Mooresville, NC, I believe. Do you actually work for one of the race teams? <curious>

Do you know of a smaller community (our size or smaller) that has been impacted by the storm? Anywhere from Florida to Louisiana that is not getting the publicity of the coastal cities and towns. Someplace we can make in impact with our limited resources and that our citizens can identify with. A town with a small race track or some tie to the racing community might be a good tie but it isn’t necessary.
Gulfport, MS
Pascagoula, MS
Bay St Louis, MS
Mandeville, LA (north across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans)
Slidell, LA (west across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans)
That's a short list. I just went to Google Maps and zoomed in on the gulf coast and started naming towns. I don't know how hard any of these locations have been hit, but they were all in the path of Katrina.
Along the Mississippi shore, pretty much anything has been wiped out. Katrina moved casinos into the middle of the interstate.
I applaud and support your efforts.
