Ok, google is not helping me here, and I've seen this before, but I can't figure out the problem.

We have a HP Color Laser Printer shared on a 2k3 server.
A client machine (XP Pro) has this mapped.
It also has a net use lptx \\server\printer mapped for an older program to run.

We keep getting remote downlevel document in the print queue that does not print.
Sits/sometimes loops.

Now judging from google, this should only happen if there is a net use on the server
which there is not.
No we do not have the bugbear or any other virus.

What could be the problem ?
Help me before I go insane !

Has this always been the case, or is this a new problem? Have you tried stopping and restarting the printer spooler service?

New problem, but its also on another server.
Yes, spooler has been restarted.

Frodo, did you ever resolve this?

I know there are some now "known issues" with the recent Update Rollup 1 package for Win2kSP4, and MS has acknowledged these, and just released v2 of the rollup.

Perhaps something similar applies to your situation..?

Oh yes, I did resolve it. Turned out it was an error on my part.
We bought a host based printer by accident, so it didn't accept
PCL input, which is what is coming from our old program.
