Paint Protection?

Has anyone had any experience with Paint Protection products?
My father just bought a used new car and he wants to get a paint protection product on it called "AUTO ARMOR", does anyone know if this is a good product?

There is also a product called

ScotchCal Protective Film made by 3m it's like a laminant any good?

I realize that's what it's there for, however, this is supposed to be kind of a restoration product as well as a protectant...there is a 3 year warranty with the ****...

anyone else heard of this stuff or had experience with it?

I'm not super informed about protecting paint with a special product, however, wouldn't this be the same thing as wax?

Are you talking about using like a clear car bra, or using a good synthetic wax like Meguiars NXT?
