I bought one of these back in Aug '04 - I believe the o/s is some form of linux, although I've never been able to hack into it. It can record DVDs directly, or you can drop DIVX avis onto it. It even has a cable tuner in the docking station. I have to say the idea hardly seem new.

Hmm depends what you call open source. I believe (read: could well be wrong ) that my device which was built May '04 has linux type o/s, which I would term open source.
This is slightly different but hopefully illustrates the point I'm trying to make.

I guess that because NJH haven't released the o/s it isn't open source. Fair play.
