CB Antenna Hook-up
Hi guys..
Quick question here:
Can I use the same antenna which I'm using for my radio , to hook up this CB (don't know exactly what it's called but it's the thing that truckers use to talk to each-other.. 40channel)
Or wil I screw up my radio because the CB is also transmitting signals ??? (maybe a very stupid question, but I'd like to know)
I really liked to know, 'cause I don't want an extra antenna on my car. My radio antenna is big enough already.

This probably isn't a good idea. It is likely that the radio would act as a load on the CB and sevearly limit the signal being transmitted by the antenna(and possibly damaging the radio) There are filters that you could use that are designed to filter CB signals on TV antennas but i wouldnt recommend trying it.

The problem is your FM antenna on your car is not properly tuned for CB reception and transmission. You won't hurt anything, but you will get terrible reception and hardly no transmitting range. Beware of the signal combiner things that people sell that is supposed to make your FM antenna into a CB antenna. It won't work very well. You would be lucky to transmit a quarter mile away. Stop by your local RadioShack and look at the antennas we (I work there) have. We have magnet mount, trunk mount, window mount (which I use), glass mount, gutter mount, and a few others. You can choose one of those if you want to remove it easily.
