Post more ramblings about microsoft, among others

Microsoft's site was down when I tried to get updates this morning, its kinda a good-bad situation for me. I'm glad to see that MS is not immune to Code Red, but I kinda wanted to get those updates.

Does anyone know what the hell PTSNOOP is? I never noticed it until I built my new computer--maybe it was always there, but I dont like anything with the word "snoop" running on my system. I close it everytime windows starts, but 15 minutes later its running again.

Does anyone know what the hell CMDNINST (or something like that) is? I tried to put ME on my new system and everytime it loaded I would get that program running like 20 times and the machine would lock up before the taskbars loaded. I ended up going back to Win98SE (and no cracks about needing to switch to Linux), but I'd like to know what the heck is going on. It did the same thing on my girlfreind's new PC which is running nearly the same configuration as mine.

and in other news: I ordered a celeron and fan from a company in florida. I had it shipped to tennessee. will someone please tell me what the heck its doing in los angeles? that's not exactly on the way. (maybe they thought that my bookPC from moahdib was lonely--its somewhere in the mail, too, I hope )

PTSNOOP is not a virus or a trojan or anything but a DLL component for the PCTel HSP Micromodem 56 series of PCI Modems. I suggest removing the modem drivers and re-installing. That should take care of it.

CMDNINST i believe is a component of the CMD PCI ATA-66/100 IDE controllers available. Same suggestion as above applies.

=)
