Best deal on a new laptop?

Looking to get my wife a new laptop. Don't need much, just a basic system.
She does want 15" or bigger screen, and WiFi. Maybe 512 Ram.
I looked around online, Gateway looked pretty good. I want to spend as little as possible (of course) but don't want a POS.
What do you guys recommend?
Links?

Nice, hoping I could spend a little less though.
I saw Dell has the Inspiron B130 starting at $499.00
If I add 512 Ram, WiFi, and shipping it's $640.00 after rebate. Is this a pretty good deal?

if you want to get a dell, get it... I just suggested the laptop above, b/c i love mine, and have an extra one for sale. Besides i would and will stay with HP, bc i had HP for the last 2 years, and never had problems with it... and dell... well not so reliable.

anyways, you choose, b/c you have to pay for it. but if you want more info on why i like that particular laptop, and only want to sell the extra one instead of both, lmk.

EDIT: I'm prolly gona base my carpc on this laptop sometime down the road...

Personally, I don't like Gateway. I'd go with Dell before I ever looked at a Gateway model. But that's one man's opinion.

You can get a functional laptop for around $700 if you shop smart.
