1969 GTO, I don't know what it is about that car but ever since I did a paint job on a restoration I have been in love.

yes but to the people who buy the sl65 $100K is the same as $200K. What matters is the extra bling and uniqueness of the SL65 and they buy it cos they can and the guy who has the SL500 can't!

I think it has more to do with the 300 hp and 340 tq of the NA 5L V8 vs the 600 hp and 740 tq of the BiTurbo V12!
That's right, 740 lb ft of pavement eating torque, street legal with a warranty, well worth the extra $100K.

Trying to reason price and performance is stupid, I can buy a sports bike and spend a few $Ks and kill most anything on the road. Hell I could mod a go-kart to get down into the 2s 0-60 times.
Personally I'd buy an SL for the hardtop convertible, especially the new panoramic glass hard-top convertible option. Other features like heated/vented seats, air-scarf (for cold days with the top down, wraps your head in warmth), distronic cruise control, ... nevermind the safety items that will keep you alive when 740 lb ft of torque rips you off the road.
That being said, my dream cars:
1970 GTO "The Judge"
1968 Firefird
1990s NSX
1980 Trans-am (or a 78-79, black and gold!)

Firstly I did see the date on this post
Secondly I didnt mean to sound arsey , just after 3 years of concentrated drooling over the Ultima Im still drooling....
Anyway, you can fit aircon into a Ultima and get the chassis with biiig crumple zones each side and a full rollcage certified FIA. Besides I will probably never be able to afford a Merc/Ferrari..etc like that (although thats not what this thread is about)...
