You dont know much do you. Police upgrade their equipment all the time. They have to enforce laws and they stay on top of technology pretty well.

Yes, and they usually **** people up in that area, but they didn't that day. Remember, I crossed them twice. And usually my rd detects them from a looong distance. That's why it is strange.

PNI Silver Bullet, I know, it's not the best one, but it has worked for me so far.

But if you speed all the time be prepared to get speeding tickets. I dont like seeing people ***** about getting tickets intown for speeding when they know the law.
Like I said, this was not downtown, 0% chance of running over pedestrians and stuff, speed limit is 45 which is so ridiculously low for this area, that’s why everybody speeds there.

And that is why they were sitting there.
It is a big mistake to assume that the cops enforce the law because of the danger present. They enforce the law because the speed limit is being ignored, and because they need to generate revenue for the state, and because it is thier job.
You think that there is no point in sitting there because there is no danger to pedestrians. But, they can sit there, and stop EVERYONE because EVERYONE is going faster then the posted speed limit, and give out tens, if not hundreds, of tickets in one sitting.

I know that, I am totally aware that the police is not there to help us but to make $$$ (My honest opinion).
But they were not effin people over. There was only one police car on the median, the other ~10 pigs on the side of the street with their speed guns were by foot, so they could not even have people pulled over, and they didn't that day.

Perhaps they were having donuts and coffee, having a meeting, or just ******* with people, or teaching them, Hey, we could be right here giving you tickets, and you wouldn't know until it was too late. Perhaps they were testing a new radar gun, with out issuing tickets. It is possible.

Yeh. The v1 has laser detection. I find it stupid for the aforementioned reason.

Man, it's good to have a cop in the forum - straight answers, direct from the source.
As for what they were doing, it really seems like they were testing. Not sure if they'd have uniformed officers doing such, but I really don't know enough to be able to comment on that one.
Michael's right about the technology though - something has to be emitted, bounced off the moving object, and detected (and therefore measured). If the emitting device can detect it, then something else (ie: a radar detector) can and will be built to do just that.
Bottom line is that it's a cat-and-mouse game. The authorities have to stay ahead of the bad guys, and the market has to keep up with emerging technology. If there is something new, there will soon be something to combat it, and then there will be something new to out-do that, and the circle will continue.

I'd say they are testing something new as well. It happened to me too about a week ago. About a year ago I was getting laser from moving cars, so I'm just totally confused.

This is exactly what I was told by one of my FHP buddies that I was talking to last week. He stated that these new guns will render all the current detectors nearly useless.

I agree, thanks for the info, whatever I say about the pigs, it doesn't count for you.

They may have been running some kind of certification class with the new radar guns. Cops have to be certified to run the Radar equipment (and recertified within a certain time period). I dunno but it could be possible.

Don't know for sure but one possibility is Ultra Wide Band (UWB). My company has been looking into using the to do range-finding. They work really well on large hunks of metal. One of the appealing aspects is that they take little power and work well on big hunks of metal.
I don't think a radar detector would pick up UWB.
