I have been away from the forums for awhile .....because ..

I have finally finished my new site.
I would like all that are regulars here (cuz your my peeps) to take a look and let me know whats good & bad about it.

It is a 3 legged creature (was shooting for 5). It is a Forum, an Article/Blog site, and a full blown Wiki.

The Forum and the Article/Blog site share the same userbase, which means that every member of the forum also has their own Blog, and can also add content to the main site.
The Wiki is based of WikiPedia (MediaWiki) and the hope is to have a database of music information much like IMDB has for movies.

I have allowed anything possible for members as far as images, files whatever (cuz I host myself on good pipe).

Anyway, the site is Free-MP3.com, and here's the links:

OK, I have noticed many showing up. Well, there aint much there yet, but the backbone is there, so add some stuff...... register and post something.

I like it...Although Im not to sure what it takes to hosts torrents or what you would need to be safe from, doing so. Id center your home page, get someone else to host it. Im gettin time outs and over 20.5 secs for pages to load, but im sure we can whore it up and give it a better look over when we have time.

Oh and once im in your news how do i get to your wiki or forums. I see you also just edited the link to you gadgets and stuff...thats where i was gettin the time outs.

There's a Nav Bar under the Logo ( on the News/Blog site )

Oh, and for the torrents, there's a VBulletin hack where the Torrent tracker integrates into the forum. I has many cool features. I just want to get a few more things going before I do that.

-do something with the main page. Either cente it, or make it bigger. Left justified just looks amateurish.

You got a nice color scheme and fonts, and then you have those. I say take em out all toegther. If someone knows about mp3s, i think they can figure out that they need to click a sub site below.

I increased them to 100 pixels, it should work.
Maybe it's the file size, I'll check.

EDIT: Yeah, the file size was set to 20K max.
It's OK now, your Avatar should be fine
EDIT#2 : I changed your avatar myself.. your good to go

Yeah, that page was a quicky, and I didn't give it much thought. I'm probably going to come up with a creative replacement.

Right now, I'm working on moving everything and getting it working again. I wanted to use my main system for development and tweaking, but I have to boot into Windows for my TV ( Doesn't work in Linux ), and I didn't want the site on my 2003 Ent Server, cuz thats going bye bye. So, I just set up a DSL (Damn Small Linux) server and I'm in the process of recreating & moving things in addition to mirroring everything to an external host cuz I might be moving and I will need a temp host.

I'm still contemplating the Torrent Tracker integration into the VBulletin message boards, but the legalaties have me rethinking it. It's the legal crap that made me take the domain down back in the late 90's (Napster era) when it was a full blown database driven MP3 distribution .

Yep, I remember Larry !!! I used to play that all the time.
I'm a child of the 80's and was programming 6502 chips back then, and thought the LSL game was way ahead of it's time.

So, once I came across the avatar, I had to adopt it. I still remain "Mr. Bouncy" here for clarity of member recognition

Well, if you would have seen the site, about half an hour ago you would have noticed the notice that it's down at night ( cuz I need my XP boot for my TV )

After tomorrow, I should have everything moved to the new server (sitting in the corner collecting dust)

So now the DNS just hits my XP system and shows a blank page. Sorry.
