Truckers retreat
ok so heres the scoop. I drive a big rig professionaly and want to get opinions on an idea i have. i am looking into buying some land in the range of like 500 acres. the i dea is to set up a truck stop like no other. it will be a members only place and for your monthly/yearly fee of x dollars we will provide a place to park and a small cabin to to sit back and relax in. we will also provide food if you so chose. we are also looking into atvs, gokarts, paintball, laser tag, or anthing else the membership wants and all that is part of the one fee.
looking for coments or ideas or for people to say im completely nuts.

If you have the money to lose, incase it dosent take off then it could be a fun adventure. But if you cant afford to eat it if it flops, then I would not suggest it. Just remember that its a niche market and 500 acres at anything near a reasonable price will most likely not have easy highway access making it harder for your customers to access it.
Just a few thoughts

It sounds like a good idea but your asking the question to the wrong demographic. I don't think there are many prefessional big rig on this forum, so our answer to your question would not be valid, because we would never visit the truck stop.
I suggest you find some trucker forums and ask there, it will give you a much better idea if you idea will be successufl.

I would think you would have a better chance if it was open to the public also. With laser tag, go karts, etc., sounds like family fun! Maybe partner up with some fast food places and rent space to them to open up a place. I know I like stopping at truck stops when I am on long drives... they have everything at those places! Never showered at one yet though....
Make sure you have a kick *** entertainment center with internet, games, tv, movies, etc. Then tell me where it is so I can come visit!
