FWIW, in India most men hold hands as it's a "regular" guy way of walking down the street with your buddy.
Straight-up freaked the hell out of me when i went there, and my cousin did it to me. [well, tried anyway - let's just say that i'd rather not post my entirely culturally inappropriate response]

I work with a bunch of Indians and yes - it's true. Touching and other sorts of stuff are generally accepted. No gayness about it. When we get newbies over here stateside, one of the first things we tell them is to keep your hands to yourself....
