Congrats BND! I know this has been weighing on your mind heavily..
Does it matter if the wife gets it on her own now.. being that you got yours, and you are married..?

TJ: It does, but she has dificulties. SHe's been thrown back for the 3rd time now, and the same person has the case for rerconsideration. Not too good of chances, but we're hoping...
BTW: BioHazard: This is not the ciotizenship yet. Almost. I have the same rights now as any US citizen, except voting. I can apply for a Citizenship 5 years from todays date

It's just more U.S. bashing going on.. mods don't seem to care about it. Heaven forbid you bash another country, however.

I agree. I have no problem with freedom of speech, however that does not apply to non-US citizens. Granted this is a world wide, open forum but to receive respect you have to give it.
As you stated, dare we bash someone else and all hell breaks loose.

May I ask on what Visa you were/are in the country under.
My GF has been trying to become a citizen for almost 7 years now. Right after 9/11, it got almost impossible. She currently has 2 applications in (one from before 9/11, one from after) and has been rejected for stupidity. The app before 9/11 was based on being in a graduate program in the states. Well, she graduated, so they rejected the application (Duh, it took 6 years, how long do they expect her to be in school) and the second one was based on working in the states, but her boss was out of town when the investigator called. THe investigator was too lazy to call back I guess, so he just rejected the application. LAZY MFer.
So, time for "reconsideration" paperwork.
As for the comment before, marriage to become a citizen only applies to citizens born in this country.
Michael

CONGRATS BND!!
Happy for you and hope all goes well with your wifes. Don't get discouraged or give up. Its best to get on board now before the US takes over the rest of the world. Then you can say you were a real American, and not just an annexed one.

Not true.
My friend who is US citizen by naturalized married his wife who came to the US as visa vistor. She got her green card 1 month after they get thier marriage certficate. Total time for her to get green card is less than 5 months since came to US.
BND, congrat.
If you have your citizenship, doesn't matter if your wife get it or not (well she isn't get all the right as citizen). Worst case, they just kick her back home and you have to redo all the paper work to sponsor her to come over. That happen only when you get your citizenship.

Yup, travel with a US passport is much, much easier than re-entry permit or none us passport especially coming back to us. hmmmmmmmmmm time to renew my passport. I went to mexico last couple week with an expire passport. I just show them my driver licence and answer couple general questions.
BTW, I thought you only have to wait 5 yr from the day you come to the us legally not the day you get your green card. I thought that what I did.
