I got a new job contd.
Well, I just got another job.
I told the theatre to shove it up there collective asses, took back my uniform and left.
I absolutely hated it. Everyone there was freaking idiots.
Example: Sunday I worked 6 to 10, I was scheduled to tear tickets at the pole from 10 till 11!!! WTF!! freakin dumbarses.
So, I had a friend of my dads reccomend me at a different place (which I don't want to say where, cause the following question)
The only problem I have is... On your work permit (since I'm under 18), does it say the last place of employment? I didn't tell the new place about the theatre, because I haven't even worked a full week, and abso****inglutely hated it. So, I would hate for it to say on the permit where I worked last, then they might think I'm a bad worker. Which I'm not, I just hated cleaning up peoples popcorn spills, and standing around with my thumb up my *** Because thats all ushers do.

I say just leave it blank.
I kinda had the same thing happen to me. I got a job in high school and then totaled my car that weekend and had to quit my job. So I figured that the job was not even worth putting on an application.

I'm not talking about on the application,
I just put the family business I've worked for for a long time.
I'm talking about on my work permit. I'm worried that on the permit it'll say the last company I worked for.

No idea about work permits...
But I can say this: No job can give you a bad personal reference. On the flip side, they can't give you a good reference either.
Since you weren't at the theater long enough for them to find out if you work well when motivated, they can't talk bad about you. Now, if you arrived late or read porno in the back room, they can certainly say that. They can't say "I just didn't like the guy". You would be able to go back and sue them for slander or something or other.
They can't give you a good referal, becuase if they always did that, the one guy they didn't give a good review could sue them for, again, a bad review when one wasn't justified.
I don't know the details on this type of thing, but I certainly have heard of many cases like this. Not a single one of my previous employers (even friggin rat shack) would give me a good reco because of this. Ask anyone who owns a decent sized business and they'll tell you the same thing.
When a new employer sees the 1-week employment, I'd hope they'd confront you about it and give you a chance to explain that you simply didn't like the job. Wishful thinking, but hopefully they'd call the theater and get a good review of you - on time, hard worker, real good at standing for long periods of time and sweeping up Coke saturated popcorn.
Best of luck!

My girlfriend is a manager at a fairly big shoe store and when she went on manager's training they told her that when calling previous employers for references she had to ask these three questions only:
1) Did the person work there?
2) If so, between which dates?
3) Would you hire him/her again?
#3 of course being a subtle way of asking, is this person worth it or not.
Of course, that was long before the company instated mandatory background checks (criminal records, credit reports, etc) for all new employees. Now they even have random drug testing, sheez.

Those above three questions are the ones that I use to check references. And are the only ones I answer. The last question does stand for are they a good employee or a *****-up. But must be based on work history. Don't worry about the one week job. As a manager look at that as one of two things:
1) The job didn't suit or interest you. (You should always do something you partly enjoy.)
2) Unforseen problem w/ new job. (Basicy poor management or ethics of company. Sometimes companies are poorly managed, poor management equals high turnover. Or the company ethics or views differ from yours. These problems can't be always seen when applying.)
Just be honest with your new employer.

I did NOT put down the theatre as a former job on the application. I did not lie though, because I had not quit at the theatre yet. So, if they do find out, all I have to say is...."I thought I might be able to keep it as a second job, but then thought better of it, since you guys are paying more...yadda yadda yadda"
So, I didn't lie on the application, because It wasn't a former job yet, and if they do somehow find out, I can just say I planned on trying to keep both, but my mom made me quit at the theatre because she didn't want me working all the time or something.

This is just my 2 cents, but you really are overthinking this. Its just a work permit, you're not trying to join the nsa. Either way, Im sure it would have worked out, but if it had been me, I'd have just left it off (as you did).
