Xbox or PS2

Since each of them have new lower prices, which one do you guys like better?
I have played the PS2 and it seems decent. I have only played the xbox in the store, and I think I like the controller better.
PS2 has 5 to 10 times more games than the xbox, but the xbox is supposed to have better graghics. I know the xbox has a faster everything, and also has a hard drive.
Which would one would you guys choose?

well since having a PS1 for over three years and loving it... I would say PS2 without a doubt... I dont care about the age of the console, its the games.... and PS2 has it there....

I reckon PS2 will win the console wars again too...... over Gamecube/Xbox.... just look at the PS1 and the N64 from a few years back.. the N64 technically is the better system hardware wise, but did it do any good? nope! ps1 crushed it to a pulp!

anyway, that my opinion!

cept ps1 had a storage medium of 700mb, n64 had much, much less, thus making ff7 and the likes on n64 impossible. dont be deluded into thinking MS is going away. they have $43 billion in CASH in the back to blow, so i think they can afford to finance xbox as much as they like. i think in the long run, xbox will be best!

ps2 all the way... why would you want to give bill gates any more money. has microsoft even released programming rights for the x-box. i thought microsoft was going to restrict the game programming to limit outside development. i could be wrong though?? why not get them both they are only $199 each now!

seriously, look at as many games as you can... go to severl electronics stores and look at the games. one of the consoles is going to have more games that you like. for me it was ps2.

look at the price of games and accesories... i dont know how prices for memory, controllers, tec stack up between the two, but most likely economics is going to be a big factor in your decision.

remember this also. the x-box requires extra equipment if you want to run dvds on it. ps2 is ready to go right out of the box.

Also keep in mind that the cost of a PS2 may end up being higher because if you want the upcoming hard drive or broadband adapter for the PS/2, you'll have to pay for those (whereas xbox already has both)

Since Nintendo just dropped the price of the Gamecube to 150, Xbox is lowering their prices again. I'd wait a month and pick up an Xbox.

Yes, PS2 has more games out. It's also been out for a couple years. Xbox will be hitting their second gen titles this fall.. and the lineup looks awesome.

I've owned both the PS2 and the Xbox. The PS2 I kept for awhile and ended up selling on Ebay. Xbox is still in my living room, and I play it every other day (this is the console that has held my interest the longest).

PS2 controlls 54% of the market, while XBox is in second with 26% and 20% with Gamecube. If you want the best graphics, go with Xbox, if you want the most games, go with PS2. Personally, i think the XBox is ok, but you have to buy the extra adapter to play dvd's, which is ghey. i like the PS2 because it has a large range of games and plays the old PS1 games too, along with the old controllers. i would try both systems first, and then choose.

Umm It would take a REALLY hefty computer to emulate an xbox. The processor on that thing is an intel p2/733Mhz.

The simplest thing that warez dudes might be able to do would be to steal the software libraries that xbox programmers use. (All xbox games are written in directx)

As for the whole "DVD Kit" problem with an xbox, it's really not that big a deal. The kit's $30, gives you a remote control, and that's that. A remote for a PS2 is $30, so what's the big problem? (Or do you really enjoy navigating your DVD's on a PS2 controller?

and not to mention trying to emulate a different memory mapping system on the XBox - ugh!

dont expect to see an XBox emulator anytime soon.... they will be a cheap to buy as a Atari 2600 by that stage anyway!!!!!

its a good time to be a video game junkie, if only I had the time....

My thought...

Wait and see if the XBOX gets hacked so you could load your own OS. $200 for a full blown computer? That would be nice...

Not that it matters much, But I went ahead and got the PS2.
With a 6 year old daughter, all the PS1 games available, it made the decesion pretty simple.
I have not rulled out getting an xbox, but it won't be for a good while.
Does anyone have any good websites on hacking the PS2 or hooking it up to other players on the internet? I know that multiplayer support is supposed to come soon for it from sony, but I was wondering if people have already figured out a way to get it online yet. Oh and does anyone have any good suggestions for games. I have already gotten Grand Turismo3, Burnout, Dare devil, and RC revenge. I have not found a good game for the daughter yet though. I will probably get Twisted Metal Black and some kind of flight sime for myself next.
