Hmm Gadgetman... Good thing you dont work in MY dealer! Anyways, I think the one who is mistaken is YOU...

Let me explain it to you (if anything, this way you wont sound foolish in front of a customer):
- In 2002 (around the middle of the year) the BMW-designed range rover (known as "New Range Rover" or L322 or MKIII) was launched. It featured a BMW 4.4 litre engine, and a BMW entertainment system, as well as a BUNCH of other stuff from BMWs - PDC, etc, etc, etc. This car has the I-Bus system (this is a car bus that controls many aspects of that and can be interfaced to. Among other things the CD-player/audio stuff can be controlled through it, etc... basically it is the communication bus used in all BMWs to that date).
- In 2005, after being bought by Ford, LR replaced the entertainment systems with ones like was used in some Jags - the system is made by Denso, which makes nav/audio systems for many cars, just FYI. The engine is still a BMW 4.4 liter, but the audio/infotainment system is based on the MOST bus. It is a fiber-optic bus used in many newer vehicles.
- In 2006, Ford (again trying to reduce cost, by stopping getting stuff from BMW) introduced the Jaguar-powered Range Rovers, using the 4.4 with 300hp and the 4.2 S/C with 400hp (used in the XJR). The entertainment system is identical to the 2005s.

So basically, I dont mean to be a dick, but get your facts straight... And drop the attitude "I know I work at a LR dealer"... well, as usual the LR-employees (direct/indirect) have a cocky attitude that makes solving problems (and our cars have their fair share) that much more difficult...

If you have any more doubts, I suggest you read on www.rangerovers.net (which probably has a lot more info on these cars than any official literature you might have from LR)... I know, I'm a moderator for the Range Rover L322 forum on that site.... I have read about just about everything that fails or goes on in these cars.... Of course, I could learn new stuff, but you barrated (sp?) in here with wrong info... get your facts straight mate!

no offense, no hard feelings....

PS: if all of the above doesnt convince you, research online, there is a good reason that many companies sell audio-input, video-input adapters, ipod-adapters, etc for the 2003-2004 models, but they explicitly say it wont work for 2005/2006/2007 (exactly because the Infotainment communication bus is different)...

Roy Roy, You have a BMW Rover. HAHA its still a 4.4 BMW engine. I know my facts I have been with LR since 1992. No the customers who own those Junk Piles that make me lots of money think they know the world about LR's. Take care in Brazil.

Yes, but it has the Jag entertainment system just like the shiny new 07s.....(unfortunately, BTW... since we dont have satnav in Brazil - no maps - we have no benefit from the new system... we only get expensive and complicated repairs - tks god for warranty - and very bad expandibility - no ipod interface, no cheap video input, no PC communication adapter, etc)...

In many respects my friend, the 07s are a BMW rover... Just look at most of the small details... they are all BMW.... No matter how much Ford tinker with it, they will not be able to remove all of the BMW components, it is simply impossible... now the new rover (which if you know your facts you'll know should be in 09 or 10) will be a complete redesign and will be probably more isolated of BMW influences...

Cheers!

Roy just drop it the 05-06 MY Rover is still a BMW version. Its a newer version but still a BMW. In 07 the system has changed to a FORD VERSION meaning the part numbers have a ford stamping number, trust me i work on them. The truck will still look like a BMW until ford wants it to look differ but why.

And maybe not until 2011 is when they might change the whole truck they might even change it in 2008. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT, oh yeah you trust a NON APPROVED LAND ROVER SITE VERSUS A LAND ROVER SITE. You never know its a money maker for ford, why fix something when it aint braking the bank.

BUT REMEMBER RANGE ROVER OWNERS KNOW EVERYTHING

Seriously man... you just came in here, get with the mood and chill it... you obviously know jack like all dealers.... typical cocky dealer BS.... Do you own the car? Have you driven one? Or are you just the dealer service receptionist?

Get YOUR facts straight... go to rangerovers.net if you want to discuss Land Rovers/Range Rovers... here we can just discuss carPCs

oh yeah, ipod interface will not be available in the usa, or other countries like brazil until 2007. even thought jaguar has it the wiring in the range rover is still a bmw and the ipod interface is a jaguar interface meaning that the wiring will not interface with each other and they are making corrections to get this corrceted so they can have ipod interface in the lr3, lr2, and rrs rr models. just took a test on it so ha you wanna beleive what ever rangeroves.net lover get a clue rangerovers.net is a enthusiest (sp) run website
