ok get this
i moved my amp onto the sub box in my boot and as im wiring it back up i managed to short the positive to the amp body i get a nice spark then smoke lots of smoke im almost crying at this stage the amps only like 3 weeks old and cost me 400 bux
anyway i finish wiring it up cause i gotta put it back in anyway i then turn the ignition on expecting the amp to explode(taking me with it ) and the head deck turns on the cd starts playing and the amps working properly
i go to the boot and the amps on no smoke no nothing
i then kiss my amp and thank god or whoever saved my amp
I've had a similar experience with my amp. Screwing the positive lead back on to it (for some reason i didn't disconnect the fuse, stoopid) and the screwdriver earthed out on the side of the amp chasis (a very nice ground). Lots of sparks, no smoke from the amp though. Still worked fine and dandy. mmmm 50rms x 4 I'm not a heavy bass listener, so that is quiet enough for now...
As long as its not the magic blue smoke that makes the electronics work, then its all good . Glad to hear it still works, and is your avatar the "Proof that Girls are Evil" proof?
