Well guys, I hate to ask, but I figure, I have been a member of this site for while and heck, why not.
A couple of my buddies got together and formed Team Smoke and Mirrors for something called the "24 hours of LeMons" Notice, that is LEMONS. This is a small race series that started last year. The cool thing about it is, for the most part, the car we bring has to be worth 500 bucks. Yeap, you heard right, 500 bucks. Here is a link to the homepage of the series.

I was lucky enough to rangle a sponsor so we applied to entry into the series (I say that loosly, we will probably only race in 2-3 races, since well, that is all there will probably be) We got accepted last week, and quickly found a car, which mind you, wasn't all that easy. We got lucky, and found a car, and spare DSM, for a total of 500 bucks. Yeap, we found a turbocharged, all wheel drive, Eagle Talon, and a spare. Mind you, we think that car will be really unstoppable at the track.
I Re-Approached the sponsor, who informed me that this month was a bad, and he is unsure if he is gonna be able to sponsor us. Uh Oh, bad news.
So, I am looking for a sponsor, or sponsors. We are looking for what we think is a very modest 5,000 bucks. Just 5 grand.
Now, if you have a business, a website, a restaurant, bar, or work for a Large Corp who wants to get your name out there, I think this is a great way, and the business need not be automotive related. Heck, look at any racing series and you will see Target and XM Radio and other sponsors.
Now, you might ask, what will that kind of sponsorship get me. Well, lets be clear, first, the car is a certain size. It will be devided into 5 parts, and for every thousand dollars of sponsorship, give you one of those 5 portions to put what ever you want on the car. You webaddress, your company name, **** Bush, end the war in Iraq, whatever you want. Plus, if we win, and hey, it's possible with the car we have, you get a portion of the purse. First place is 1500 bucks. Ya, you won't make your money back, but it will be something. But, even more important, is that the race last year got SIGNIFICANT coverage in ALL the major, and many of the minor, car magazines in the US. You heard right, Car and Driver and Road and Track. And not just a couple of words, or a page. Cr and driver had a whopping 7 pages of coverage, and Road and Track about the same.
