Lightbulb UnusuallyGenius Stock Theme

I have revised the theme...again.
Every version looks better than the one before.
So here are some of the images.

Home Screen: Much Cleaner Look

Revised Volume Bar

Notice the Volume Button Glows Red when muted

Concept Gauges

Concept Phone Interface | Not Finished Yet

I would like to start working on a main screen, but i need an idea to run with. I am aware of the many different types of main screens, but do not yet know where this one is going. As soon as I know, I can create a home screen that looks as good as the rest.

Thats kinda cool....

Right now the main screen is really up in the air. I would say the best bet is to go with pure icons. 6-8 (depending on how well they fit) large detailed icons.

Also, I had a two minor corrections in the other thread...the volume button and the media position slider.

Sorry bout that - thought i had put it in...

Other post: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/open...ml#post1329205

And heres the text:
Quote:
can you do a volume icon in the top left and then shift the album art? (that should complete the four corners concept). And with the media bar, add some type of position slider kind of thing just above the buttons.

New Images

Main Screen

Highlighted Button

Can you clarify exactly how the volume button should behave, as you can see i shifted the album art over to make room for it, but i dont know exactly what you want it to do, so i can draw it

thanks

Wow looks great. I'm kind of making this up as I go along but I think the volume icon is going to just be the typical speaker type volume icon (should have one for sound on and one for mute). When the volume icon is clicked a semi-transparent volume level bar will appear on the left side of the screen. Then it can be controlled by sliding your finger up and down the left quarter of the screen similar to operating a scroll wheel.

Double tapping the volume icon will bring open the audio control panel with settings, an eq and all those goodies.

Sounds good but wouldn't it be more optimal if the volume button was in the center and then you tap for mute or hold and drag left or right for volume up or down? That way you don't have to activate the volume slider, move your finger, then drag...

While that sounds easier in theory - for everything other then the main menu (and even the main menu if the skin was changed) the center of the screen will be in use by whatever module is open.

If you were referring to the top center - then I have to say from actual testing I find it much easier to locate a corner of the screen without looking then to find the top center but I leave that open for other users opinions.

Also, the volume slider will more be gesture based then a slider - sliders require you to locate the current position - which requires looking at the screen. Volume control will be done by touching anywhere in the left quarter and gesturing up or down. Anyone familiar with the concept of inertial scrolling should have a better idea what im referring to.

Yeah i didn't mean the exact center just a point on the screen where you can start the gesture and then be able to move in two directions. Because it would be gesture based, the volume icon could be a small subtle reference point and not a big ugly icon. Tapping in the corner then moving my finger down just so I can swipe back up doesn't seem ideal to me.

Could you start sending me the individual images - or at least the basics for now so I can work on the first version of the rendering engine. A button, a highlighted button, one of those tabs, and a highlighted tab.

Here are some images, i have them in three formats, not sure which one you want:

Home_Button.png

Home_Button.gif

Home_Button.jpg

And here are the highlighted buttons

Home_Button_Highlighted.png

Home_Button_Highlighted.gif

Home_Button_Highlighted.jpg

I have included PNG, JPG and GIF copies of the images, the only one that supports transparency is GIF. But I know nothing about graphic engines, so i dont even know if this is the format you want, or what to do with them. Let me know. Also, can you please PM me an email address? That will make it much easier than uploading them here.

Thanks.

Matt
