FM Radio? How about DVR Capability too?

So, another thing that I would like to support is DVR capability for my SILabs USB FM Tuner. There is quite a bit of information on the net about these things, and they are pretty cool.

-Are there any plans to support an FM tuner?
-How about plans to make some DVR capability?

I made a sort of proof of concept app in c# that does allow me to record a line audio source, and then play it back from a FIFO buffer. I'd be willing to pitch into the development efforts here, but as far as making the radio work in the first place, I am not 100% sure how to do that.

Might as well have this thread be a discussion for all things to do with FM tuners and whatnot.

Didn't realize you were a C# dev-thats great news!

FM Tuner support is there. I'm not sure how much youv'e looked at the source code or the wiki but the whole concept of Open Mobile is a very modular design. Plugins implement interfaces that match their function.

The A/V department is taken care of by the IAVPlugin and ITunedContent interfaces. We already have a media player plugin which is based on DirectShow and can play almost every type of media.

I had plans to do a plugin for the DirectedHD and Visteon unit with mitch's cable but haven't worked out 100% of the details for how I want to implement stream management. One option is to let the tuned content plugins manage the streams completely, handling pausing, buffering, seeking and routing. The other option is to have open mobile manage all this with the assumption that all tuned content plugins will require this functionality. Of course I haven't thought about this in awhile so there could be an option 3 i'm forgetting about.

Cool!

So I think I saw somewhere you have a wiki setup with some information on the code, interface specs and stuff, where is that? I'll have to check it out. I may be able to implement the FM radio plugin, at least for the SILabs FM tuner that I have. (Which is a pretty cool device too, cheap, and came with the source code to it's own firmware and the source to the player app it came with, heck it even came with the PCB layouts!)

Its a sourceforge project:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openmobile/

Code can be downloaded with a svn client or viewed online (or downloaded as a tarball) here:
http://openmobile.svn.sourceforge.ne...vc/openmobile/

Wiki is available here:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...itle=Main_Page
You would want to be looking in the dev section:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...evelopers_Wiki
but it hasn't been updated with the new sdk (I update after each release) so it may be only slightly different from the code or it may be completely different. That changes after this release when we lock down the framework.
