High CPU Load after Install

When I was bench testing the CarPc, the cpu load was around 40-50% but then I added a wifi adapter and installed in the car and now the cpu load stays between 98-100%. My memory is 73% free. I turned off some more of the services but that's when it dropped to 99%. It was running a consistent 100%. Any ideas?

Roadrunner being used? If so, then do you have the correct flash version for it (8 not 9)? Have you checked the "high cpu load with RR" thread?

If not roadrunner, then the frontend and list of apps running while this happens would be nice.

I actually read that first thing this morning and was considering giving it a try, even though I use a different skin. I use the Digital FX skin, will doing the forced downgrade really make a difference?

forced downgrade of flash?

Yes it will.

The thing is flash 9 uses some new way of displaying flash files. Legacy files meaning not 9 when tried to be played on a 9 system, have to be emulated or "swished" I believe the flash term is. I am not sure on the term, but it basically is running your flash in an emulator.

So if you go to a native flash 8 system, and try to play flash 8 files all the way back to 4 I think, you are fine. You cant play files encoded in flash 9 at all. And flash 4 and lower files are emulated, but you have to search high and low to find anything in flash 4 or lower.

So basically yes it makes a difference. On epia boards, it can make the difference between running smoothly, and running choppily and freezing. On a system with a dedicated gpu, then it will just emulate it there, and it should be a negligable gain in performance, but it still will help.

I just tried it and guess what, it worse. The CPU is now a constant 100%!!! It did go down to 99% for a brief second, but went right backup. I don't know what to do. I am running RoadRunner, Wifi, Bluetooth, phonecontrol.net, Iguidance with Pharos GPS-360, and the recommended version of Winamp. I downloaded the replacement OCX flash file and renamed it flash9b.ocx since my other file was named flash9b. *UPDATE* After a fresh reboot it is down quite a bit now so it must have worked. But it still needs some work done. I'm now around 90% using Digital FX Skin. It is the same with the original skin. My goal was to be able to play music videos, but right now that seems impossible. Does anyone have ideas on what I can do?

I know bluetooth is a beast on epia boards for some random reason. Try without bluetooth, and see how it is.
