Lightbulb Heads up! There's a slim version of Vista floating around!

I found this on a private torrent site:
Windows Vista Ultimate Lite Fits on Regular CD-R

Description:
Quote:
I burned it, and tested it on an AMD K6 Processor with 384 MB of RAM, and it runs just fine surprisingly.
It is small enough to fit onto a cd, and can run on a PC with as little as 256 MB of RAM, and runs on even an Intel Pentium III.

I don't have a complete list on what has been removed from it, but can put one together if enough people request it.

I've also included an activator (OEM), which has been tested and works with this version by me.
Plus, I've thrown in the Vista SP1 Preview pack x86 updates.

I haven't tried it yet personally, but it seems like it might be a viable solution for some of us!

Do you believe that will have an advantage over XP (slim or not)?

tried it

I tried one that was called "tiny xp vista edition" .
although it had xp boot and splash screens, everything else seemed vista (xp core maybe? idk)
on my P3 w/ 256 ram it ran but ran like crap, and while it is prehaps lighter than vista it still lagged like nutz (took abo 1/2 second between clicking start and getting a response)
and i am now continuing my search for a lite functional os for my carpc
as far a benefits with the vista machine, i think it worked a little better with bluetooth and wifi, which are important things [at least for me] in a carpc

Interesting, I get better results than what you describe with a full XP install ... and I run it on a celeron 300a
