Suspend problem in Windows XP
Dear all,
I am facing a bizzare problem which i have never deal with in the past.
I recently build a new system based on AOpen i945GMt-FA, and Core2-Duo 1.66GHz. System is powered with a carnetix p2140.
I have initially install Vista but decided to go XP pro sp2 in view of the overly bloated Vista installation.
However, after installation, I noticed that despite listing the system as a ACPI-multiprocessor system, there is no option for suspend/hibernation. Even APM option is not listed. All other system device were detected correctly and driver installed correctly after running the Intel installer.
please help
thanks
kao

make sure you have the video drivers installed, with xp, if they aren't, it won't be able to suspend or hibernate.

lol, ive had the same problem, even went so far as to reinstall windows once (i thought it might have been my stripped out version causing it) finally figured it out when i went to install my new video card, and then the options came back. oh well, live and learn.
good luck,
david

no problem, was it the drivers, or the stripped version? i just run a full version on my setup now cause i got sick of finding things i stripped out, just to find that i needed it later.

it's the driver. very embarassingly so. I had go and test the standby and hibernation before finishing up on driver installation, and jumped the gun.
Thanks a million.
Yes, i do encounter alot of problem with striping windows, xp or vista. must be particularly careful when taking out drivers. I learn it the hardway when i took away the modem drivers and realised my BT modem installation relies on it.
