Hey Tidder, I don't see any 'RapidBIOS Boot' option on my D945GCLF2 ... where is it?

Same, do I have to used their BIOS edit tool to find that option? Also, my system boots pretty quickly after the post screen comes up, but there is a 10-15 second delay before the POST splash screen appears

Hmm... I'm looking and I don't see it either... I might have been thinking of another system/motherboard.

EDIT: Yeah, definitely another machine I must have been playing with, sorry guys. http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/1269476-post232.html

15 seconds before you see ANYTHING on the screen?
Sounds like something isn't right there...

Actually from reading alot on this mobo, it is quite normal for it to do that.
That is one biggest reason why i did not buy this mobo.

No kidding!

Mine goes thru a USB detection phase (beeps with each device), but this is after POST...and it takes maybe 4 seconds.

sounds like I've got the opposite problem, the system POSTs so fast that I don't even see the splash screen. then it just sits on the xp loading screens for almost a full minute

That's a HD problem. Not defective, just slow. Change it out for a 7200rpm with fast seek time and large cache and it should become much faster.

Check in the BIOS to see if USB boot is enabled. If it is, disable it.

Me too! I have the exact same problem. The question now is: which HDD to buy?

Well if you have any HD lying around even a 3.5" desktop drive you can open up the carPC plug it in and test. If it is still slow then it could just be the processor is poop. If it speeds it up enough to your liking, then go and buy a HD.

I have a bucket 'o hard drives, and all geeks should.

yep, I've literally got six 3.5" drives lying around. unfortunately/painfully my motherboard doesn't have an IDE connection and I don't have any IDE/SATA converters...

I'm thinking about going all out and getting the Intel X25-M 80GB SSD. If it doesn't help my carpc at all, I still get an awesome hard drive for my desktop

EDIT-----
Actually I have one IDE connector. So the challenge becomes installing xp on the drive without use of the dvd drive. hmmm.
