obstacleman is an unknown quantity at this point
Has anyone used Presto my PC?

I just saw an add for this in Laptop magazine and thought it might be useful in my carputer but have not tried it and am not near a machine I can right now. Has anyone tried this out to see if it would work with any of the front ends?

http://www.prestomypc.com

Thanks

i doubt it would, it sounds like linux... wait-- looking through their app store-- it is!

the description for avg antivirus from their site:

AVG Antivirus software for Linux workstations. AVG protects you in ways others can't. It's great!
AVG offers easy to use, automated protection for everyday use for your Linux workstation.

so it might work with the linux front ends availible.

With minimal tweaks and BIOS configuration, you can easily resume from hibernation in under 30 seconds.
With the right hardware and some hardcore tweaking, sub-20sec resume times are possible.

What is Presto?

Presto is an easy to install program that works with most Windows XP and Vista PCs - laptops and desktops. Once installed - whenever you turn on your computer, you’ll have the choice of running Windows or Presto. With Presto, you’re automatically connected to your network and productive in seconds. You can easily access your Windows files. When you’re done using Presto, you can turn off your laptop instantly.

It's just a stripped-down Linux variant that boots quickly and provides basic network & web functionality. When you install PRESTO, I'm certain you're setting up a dual-boot scenario.
I seriously doubt you could use a VPN with Presto if you needed to connect to your workplace, for example.
I wouldn't expect you to be able to edit Word or Excel documents, either.
