My frontend is in VB.NET and I'll release it when it's stable enough for me to run it in my car, inbuilt Sirius support, and VLC (Videolan client) for media playing and going to add plugin support soon too.

Excellent. Thanks Mark.

Since it's in a .NET language, then just about any .NET developer should be able to contribute.

I'll be happy to help, most of my stuff will be written in C# though. :-)

Once I have it running fairly well I'll create a SourceForge project and CVS repository for it, will make things easier.

Added the project for approval on SourceForge now. I think I'd like to redo the forms in DirectX it wont be easy but it will look awesome! Once it's up and going I'll let people who want to help message me and I'll add them as developers on SourceForge then we can all contribute.

one big milestone accomplished today!!! I can now read the iTunesDB file off of an iPod, all previous implementations in .NET I found did not have proper playlist support so I had to do a fair bit of work to figure it out but it looks like it is working now Plug and play iPod support is not far away.

Early screenshots of the up and coming iPod interface:
I need to tweak the grid font size a bit and add easier/bigger buttons to group/navigate etc. BTW this is pulling the information right out of an iPod binary database. iTunes is not needed at all.

Getting some more work done on the FE, been busy lately. Finally got to do some of the hardware today, got the SVGA/USB wires ran to the trunk. My amp kit ( 4 gauge cable ) will be arriving tomorrow so I can get that wired up and start building the case. I'm going on a trip next Thursday so my goal is to have it all ready by then.

Not that I'm the end-all king of user interface (Actually I'm quite bad myself) but I have some areas of interest I feel that you should look into.

Constructive criticism, I promise.

1. Too much unused space.
2. What resolution are you writing this for? Does your application automatically resize everything based on what the end-user's resolution is?
3. Bad color scheme. Black + Bright-Green would be terrible for night-time driving. Possibly including either one theme that's fairly dark-toned, or having selectable daytime-nighttime skins.

That's all I can really comment on based on the main screen. Post up some other media screenshots and hopefully some more users will comment.
