This is more than strange. Your device cannot be found for any reason.
Please have a look into your Device-Manager -> Human Interface Devices.
How many are there and which one is the PowerMate (it's in the Properties dialog).
What OS do you have?

Windows XP SP2
under device manager the only thing that is listed for HID is my mouse
the powermate is actually under USB devices
if I uninstall the powermate drivers it will install as a HID but it still doesnt work with your software

This may explain the strange behaviour.
Griffin itself recommends to enumrate the HID. So unfortunately no solution for that yet.

Glad to hear...
BTW: If you set ControlVolume to Master and you Doubleclick the Knob whenever the MWI window doesn't show, you can control the volume.

Minor update.
MWI has now it's own configuration dialog (no need for PhoneCtlConfig anymore) on which you can change the settings on-the-fly. It's in the popup menu on the TaskTray icon.
Also integrated: Sound on poping up the window, turning the wheel, selecting a character.
Enjoy.

speech
Zorro,
I don't know if this has been talked about, if so, please excuse me.
Anyways. I really like your program but how hard and viable would it be to add on a Text to Speech thing so that as you're scrolling thru the Letters, it would pronounce it and as you click or choose it, it would confirm it too... That way we wouldn't have to even look at the screen at all while driving. Much safer, etc... As it stands right now, I would still have to glance at the screen to see what letter it's at and I would just might as well use an Onscreen KB.
Thanks for the awesome work nevertheless.

I was thinking about but because of the weak response to MWI I stopped working on it.
If I find some spare time, I'll add that feature.

Ok, go and get it
You need to have SAPI 5.1 installed (which you supposably do).
In the configuration dialog you now have two new properties UseVoice and VoiceTime.
Within the taskswitcher mode the currently applied windows title is read.

Where?
Zorro,
Um... where is this new version at to d/l?? I've tried the link on the first post and the one at phonecontrol.net ... neither one seems to have this new option. Or maybe I'm missing something???
Doesn't the SAPI 5.1 come built in to XP Pro? Well, I went ahead and installed SAPI 5.1 from the microsoft website too (SpeechSDK51.exe).
Anyways... Thanks for the new option!!! I'm sure it'll be awesome!.

Not sure... maybe I didn't copy it ... try it again now.
Yeah, SAPI comes with XP. Installing the SDK gives you two nicer voices.

great
yeah, that did the trick.. thanks.
I tried it for a while and so far, it's pretty cool and useful, I actually don't have to look at the screen and be able to type out some stuff.
Only thing is that I think it doesn't sync well with what i'm scrolling thru. Maybe it needs to try to say every letter right away but cancel out immediately once I scroll to the next and try to say that next one instead.... For example.. I'm on A.. it'll try to say A, but I move to B before it finishes saying A so it should stop saying A right away and start to say B... So essentially it'll stutter thru the alphabets unless I stop scrolling. If you mess around with windows Narrator, you may see or understand what i'm trying to say.
Also, VoiceTime doesn't seem to work or do anything for me. If VoiceTime works, I guess I can set it to like 1000 so that it'll only say the letter if I stop scrolling for 1sec. This would almost get the effect I want. I guess it would seem to be better for me if I can set it to 0 and have it try to say all the letters immediate yet only to cancel out as i scroll to the next, that way I get a better feel to where I'm at during the scroll.
Damn, I hope I wasn't too confusing on this whole thing.... Anyways, it's not a big deal. It's already awesome as it is.
Thanks again! Great stuff!

Ok, I've changed it. So you can set the VoiceTime to let's say 100 and it'll stop reading of the previous character as you move on but it doesn't sound very nice because you may get some "hickups".
VoiceTime didn't change until you restart the app. Changed that as well.
