iGMod Beta 1 testing release

iGmod BETA 2 can be found here: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=59713

What is iGmod?
iGmod is a program which attempts to replace the menus in iGuidance with new, more eye appealing menus and larger buttons for use on a touchscreen display. It also redesigns the interface of the main window for easy integration and use with frontends.

So in essence it retains all of the greatness of the actuall iGuidance application while replacing the weaker interface designed for a PDA with a more elaborite interface for a PC.

It will also feature easy instalation of a variety of iGuidance mods not directly associated with the user interface in future releases, such as map font size editing and modifying the sound files to turn down the music playing while guidance is reading directions.

Of course, you need iGuidance to run it. Ive tried it on iG 2.1 and 2.1.1, but I hear 2.0 also works.

Known minor issues in this beta release:

- Coordinates window is not skinned (who enteres destinations by coordinates anyways?)
- Speed Alert window not skinned, nor is display options or route options
- Lots of images are just blue/yellow/red round buttons, this happened when I lost art creativity to get the product complete
- No notification if you failed doing something you shouldnt be able to do, like no route to destination or detour when no destination set
- Does not yet correctly support RoadRunner (First thing im fixing)

Skinning support in next beta release.

Download beta 1.1:

Mirror 2:http://sterlingv.com/users/purdoom/igmod/iGmod.zip
Mirror 3:http://rapidshare.de/files/4117189/iGmod.zip.html

EDIT: Alpha 1.4 testing release can be found on page 6.

PLEASE NOTE if you have downloaded the previous buggy version, the window name of iGmod has changed to "igm" for integration in frontends.

Bug Reports:

I know there will be bugs, its not the most 100% stable thing in the world yet. Please tell me what the issue is, if you can consistantly recreate it, and what version of IG you have. Feel free to send me instant messages, my AOL screen name is comegetyourham . Hopefully a week of people testing and getting bug reports in will let me make a bugfix release out which will be much more stable.

...Anyone want to make new buttons for the POI list or anywhere else in the menus for me? I can do the up/down effect if you get me a 110x110 image to add the up/down border onto. All the current art came from various GPL clipart webpages.

The buttons are a little unreponsive for me, too. It works fine outside of a frontend but when I embed it into Road Runner, i have problems with windows fighting for focus. For example if I click on Menu, I can see the original iGuidance menu and the new one flashing back and forth.

Justintime: Could you PM me some way to contact you, like an instant message screen name or something?

I also plan on making some code to reset the interface if something went wrong and the user hasnt acomplished pressing any buttons for some length of time, like 30 seconds. Also I think funny things might be happening when you press a button when the other button is still being processed. Also from time to time ive noticed the OSK being slugish... ill look at the timers in charge of copying letters from the new OSK to the iguidance OSK and see what I can change.

b8bboi: Ill go download a copy of road runner and see what I can do.

UM_Fan: uhh....? I have a 350 mhz computer in my car that I plan on testing on today, didn't have a chance to do that yet. So speedwise ill try to make it acceptable to use on that slow machine.

I see what you mean with RR and iG fighting for the menu. I made a fix, and now the download link is updated with the new EXE. Looks like the transparent turn overlay isnt working in RR, but ill fix that later.

Alright, doing bug fixes. I finished new code for the OSK, now rather than simulating keypresses the code will copy whatever is in the textbox on the OSK directly to iGuidances OSK using API calls. Im also working on making the results window more snappy (seems to be the cause of most of the bugs right now) and will get to making RR work.

Gimme a day or 2.

that's pretty sweet. could i suggest magnifying the turn box in the same location instead of translucent in the center, and magnifying the 'distance until next turn' as well.

I agree, th transparency thing is VERY cool, but I think it is more practical to have it magnified in the top left corner out of the way. Sorry

The distance to next turn is magnified, but none of the screenshots show it. I didn't magnify the distance on the guidance window because I thought that would be useless, when that is open your practically right in front of it anyway.

JIT: Ill add a toggle to remove it when i rerelease the code.

Other news: Everything is almost working exactly how it should in my 350 mhz carputer. Nearly ready for rerelease.
