Weather program for Map Monkey

Hey all, i just spent the past week trying to come up w/ something that would give me weather information as i drive. I use frodoplayer, and there is no weather plugin for it. I wrote a simple program that polls MapMonkey for the current location and then goes to the Weather Channel website and downloads all of the data for that location. Obviously you will need MapMonkey and an internet connection in your car. I wanted to post a message about it to see if anyone is interested in it. i started making it just for myself, but realized there are probably others that could use it. i posted a screen shot. Obviously i will make it "pretty" and "touchscreen friendly", but it shows the current weather conditions. It polls yoru location every 5 seconds. If your location changes it downloads the weather for the new location, and if you are in a location for longer than 5 minutes, it updates the weather. Here's a screen shot of what i have so far.

First feature request .

Can it be made to search for a internet connection as well. If you are driving around and you don't have a constant connection, it just updates when a connection to the net is present.

Feature requests are fine! I created the portion of the program that goes out to weather.com and downloads all of their available information. They have quite a bit. They have information about your location, such as lat/lon, sunset/rise times, the exact location of the weather observations. Current conditions like temp., cloudiness, barm readings, wind, etc. You can pull an extended forcast like 5 or 10 days, as well as weather alerts. I'm going to first do it for MM and then look into Free Drive. I don't use freedrive, but i would imagine that any gps software that will give you your location will work.

I already entered code to check for the internet. I'm running into problems where it crashes if you aren't online. I will obviously correct this.

I'll play with it this weekend and hopefully have a test program for you to try.

sorry about the delay. I just had to spend the week in sunny Az and didn't get a chance to code at all. I'm putting the finishing touches on it and testing it w/ Ninja Monkey, frodoplayer, etc. I should have a copy up in 24 hours.
