Hmmm... thanks for the update Matrix, and I'll have to take a look into that. Maybe if you could do me a favor and see what is getting printed out in the link file for range, then we can see if it's my app or if GE for some reason isn't handling the linked file correctly. Let me know, and thanks for the help.

I think it's more likely be GE problem. The link file printed correct value. It's one of the camera' fly to view setting. I try all 3 different setting, but they all the same. I just has no idea and can't really use it cuz the collected data only show frwy and highwy.

I have the same problem, I stay at 15k - 20K ALT.
The FLY TO - TOUR SETTING was by default set to SLOW.
I put it at 20% and now it work WELL.
SLOW----------|------------------------------------------------FAST
Very Good Apps ! A MUST for OFFLINE GE User ! Canadian can'T have CHEAT GPSR internet connection for the moment. Maybe it will change with new PORTABLE WIFI TECHNOLOGIE offered by ROGERS and BELL.
GReat Continuation to all DEV who spending time in TOOLS and little APPS like that !

Dear njwahor,
Yes it's now moving and seems like building the cache. Now I'm trying to choose best values for speed and range. Here are my experiences:
- I have seen that I was exiting Cache Builder after building the kml file. So it was flying to starting point and waiting there. You have to write an "idiotproof" guide
- No you don't need an internet connection at the start; if you uncheck the Network Link before you close GE, it starts also offline next time, otherwise it fails to login like you said.
My last question: Cache builder is not starting from the NW point I am imputting. Is this normal, will it come to that point later, or is something wrong?

anyway someone can recommend me some settings that would allow me to build the cache at a very low zoom level. Here are my settings now :
Miles East: 50
Miles South: 50
Range: 300
Speed Factor: 1
Resolution: 5
as its building its only going down to about 30mi. I'd like to go down to about 700ft.

Another useful software
Hi Guys.. This is Tamer Louis..
Thanks Nathan for the useful GE Builder...
I made another program which have some other features..
1. It scans the areas in order, it doesn't take random snapshots. It takes snapshots from left to right till the row is fully scanned and then it goes to the row below it, and so on.. till the full area is scanned.
2. You can set the space between snapshots.
3. It stops when it finishes the full scanning and gives the user an information message.
Anyway, you can try it...
You can download it from my web page at www.geocities.com/tamatimo.geo/files
the file name is GEV.zip
Any comments are welcomed ...
my email address is tamerlouis@yahoo.com
Good luck

Should Google earth be running at the same time? What are typical values for space between snapshots, & refresh? Thanks.

Yes, Google Earth has to be running at the same time.
For the snapshots values, it's the height and width of your image at the selected altitude... For example, if you choose an altitude of 600 meters, you will see that google earth will display an image of a height of about 450 meters and a width of about 700 meters. To get the best values for your snapshots just choose an altitude on GE and then by the ruler tool get the width and height of your image and set those as the snapshot values.
The typical values for refresh if you run an area for the first time, is about 15 to 25 seconds depending on the internet speed.
For quick refresh, set the "Fly to Speed" option to Fast (You can get it from GE -> Tools menu -> Options -> Touring tab).
Thanks.

Version 2.0 is now available with advanced options to set starting from a specific point.
This will be useful if you close the program and need to run it after a while from the last point it was stopped at. This will remove the burden of starting from the very beginning and scanning snapshots that are already scanned.

Hey, thanks for the tool..
However i am not able to figure out how to set the following:
Then you set up Google Earth to read in the KML file as a network resource. Set it up to refresh every second and to fly-to the location..
After i start the tool, a kml file is created which keeps on updated, i click to that file and the location opens up on GE. But, it does not move (get refreshed) automatically.
can anyone help..
