problem unpacking PhoneCtlSetup
I have downloaded the complete file from http://zoran-horvat.de/private/CarPC/PhoneCtlSetup.zip and transferred this to my car pc. I am unable to extract the files as the only message I get is:
Please insert the last disk of the Multi-Volume set and click OK to continue.
What is that all about?
Henrik

I suppose, your Un-Zip is kidding
It's a simple, plain Zip file... just checked it.
<edit>
Please check, whether it's size is about 5.057 KB or not.

file size was OK, but seems that it was a wonky download. A new download works nicely, Siemens C55 tested very briefly, but I was able to make a call. More testing on the road tomorrow and days ahead.
Very promising tool, can't wait to see it for Linux, though

Additional Phonebooks in New Release
Zorro
Solved the problem with PhoneCtl.Config.xml. Type a capital O instead of o. Didn't realise XML was so fussy!
Additional Phonebooks now show up. 'Friends' shows those is seperate friends phonebook, but have used the prog to dial & receive calls and RC, DC & MC phonebooks do not show any numbers.

How did you know?
Excerpt from the Nokia spec:
Quote:
6.4 AT+CPBS Select phonebook memory storage GSM 07.07 section 8.11 /2/.
Selects memory where phonebook commands operate. Supported <storage> values depend on the product. Supported <storage> values are: "DC", "MC", "RC", "ME", "FD", "SM", "ON", "EN".
(ME = Mobile Equipment, FD = Fix dial, ON = Own numbers, EN = Emergency numbers -I didn't mention those on my website)
As your phone always is reporting "ERROR", I think, there is not much more to get, sorry!
There is one more storage, the "LD" for last dialed you can try.
<edit>
You maybe should open a connection via HyperTerminal and send the AT-Command:
AT+CPBS=?<cr>
This will show you the storages supported by your phone.

There two things to do. Read the manual and then press F5.

Folks, please, try before you start a new thread. It's getting really hard to find anything within 5000 threads.

Then, please next time be more precisly with your requests.
Get the latest version of PhoCo (the one with the multiple phonebooks) and configure the first phonebook as static="False". This will reload the phonebook each time you start PhoneControl.

thanks again, ill play with that. i have remote desktop working so as long as the car is in the driveway i have a keyboard . btw, ive been trying searches, but the forum only appears to go back to april 24th. i have all my settings configured to view all topics from the beginning of time. i checked the archive group as well. thanks for your support, i know what a pain in the butt it is to answer the same questions over and over. undoubtedly ill have more, ill keep trying to RTFM and search before bugging you.

manual dial buttons blank
zorro, i absolutly dread posting this. i could have sworn i'd seen the answer to this before but a search of this forum on blank, blank buttons or manual dial turns up nothing.
i click manual dial and the only buttons that are labelled are the #, * and a couple of others. am i missing a font or something?
please don't hurt me! *cringe*
