Widcomm 4.0.1.2101

Final Update
Hi there
Shortly want to mention that all downloads concerning the Widcomm Stack are offline right now!
Reasons are mentioned here.

THX
Chaos

UPDATE4! UPDATE4! UPDATE4! UPDATE4! UPDATE4! UPDATE4! UPDATE4! UPDATE4!
I made a mistake, before downloading, go into the SVCPACK directory and correct the spelling of one DLL file, it should be: BTneighborhood.dll it's American spelling which I failed to notice.
I am uploading a corrected version as I write this, Chsos will be along soon with the new URL and I will update this post yet again!
If you have already installed, then you will need to rename the existing BTneighborhood.dll in Windows\System32 to something else, then copy in the patched version from the svcpack directory, making sure to correct the spelling as you do so!, then reboot.

Once again, apologies for the inconvinience. My replacement HD arrived the other day so I have been able to test this properly now and it is working.

UPDATE3! UPDATE3! UPDATE3! UPDATE3! UPDATE3! UPDATE3! UPDATE3! UPDATE3!
Prepatched 4.0.1.2101 installer - here
Thanks to Chaos_666 for hosting the files
Thanks to BillyX on another forum for cracking the files.
Installer patched by me

This version includes the High Quality Audio profile which is not in previous versions. Enjoy.

UPDATE2! UPDATE2! UPDATE2! UPDATE2! UPDATE2! UPDATE2! UPDATE2! UPDATE2!
Widcomm 4.0.1.2101 - here
Patch - here

Installation instructions are the same as for the initial post, not the pre-patched version immediately below.

I have not tested this yet as I am still downloading 2100 myself, but apparently this version supports the high quality audio profile. Enjoy

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!
Click here for Widcomm 4.0.1.1500.Patched This download is already patched. Just install like a normal program, no need for copying files in safe mode or anything.
Thanks to Chaos_666 for providing the hosting for this file.
Note that I have not done anything with the .inf file. If you need this, then you can probably use the one from 4.0.1.700

Original post here - the patch is no-longer needed unless you already downloaded 4.0.1.1500 from another location
Widcomm 4.0.1.1500 - here
Patch - here

1) Unzip Widcomm installer
2) Unzip the patch into the SVCPACK directory within the Widcomm installer directory.
3) If you have done this correctly then it should ask you to confirm that you want to overwrite SVCPACK.INF, say yes
4) Install as normal. The files will be automatically patched by the installer.

Funny, after I get 36.5 MB (of 37 MB) this site disappeared.

www.ccandc.com.tw : 61.222.135.18
www.ccandc.com.tw : ** no reply 00001 after 5 seconds

And also, what is new?

I have no idea what is new other than it actually works on my laptop unlike the last version (though the last version did run fine on my Car PC before the HD died). Bluetooth Imaging may be new or I just might not have noticed it before.

Site seems to be back up now though. I guess too many people from here swamped it

On which note, it would be nice if someone can mirror the patch file before I exceed my own bandwidth limits

thanks for the links

In SVCPACK.ZIP there isn't a .inf file. Can we use the same we used with version 4.0.1.700?

I shall apply the patch to the installer and upload the entire thing as one .ZIP when I get home from work in a few hours for those of you who cannot download. Someone please mirror this as my ISP is going to kill me if 1000s of you all download a 40meg file off me! I will be taking it down after a few days.

You can problably use the old .inf file, I have not tested this as my dongle works with the default Widcomm .inf

Let me know how you get on with it, and also how you get on with this new-style patch. You can still patch via the old safe mode method if this style of patching fails (just ignore the svcpack.ini file)

I'm getting a licensing error message since installing this version (using D-Link DBT-120).

I need to play around with it some more, but does the error indicate an issue with the patch or .inf?

You can upload it to my webspace if you want, so anybody can download it.
Just drop me a PM.

How did you apply the patch? The 5 files should be put inside the SVCPACK folder in the Widcomm installer directory. If you have gotten it correct you will be asked if you want to overwrite the existing SVCPACK.INI file.

Since you have already installed, you may as well patch using the old method, boot into safe mode and overwrite btneighbourhood.dll and wbtapi.dll in winnt\system32 then overwrite btstackserver.exe and bttray.exe in program files\bluetooth

Chaos_666: Thanks for the offer. I'll upload the file to mine when I get in (I am not uploading 40megs over GPRS!), if you could just copy it to your site and provide the URL that will be fantastic.

thanks, missed the fact that the patched files need to be in the SVCPACK subdirectory.

Thanks.

This is possible, but due to my little upload-speed (128k), this could last.
So (not sure how fast Inet in England is) if yours is faster it might be easier if you could put it there.
