iDen Support

Hi Zorro,

I am trying to figure if I can get my i870 phone to work with phoco. As it stands the iDen phone does use an AT command set, though its limited. Phoco seems to know about the battery life and signal strength. in a BT setup it connects and serial works as well. I dont get the phonebook and I cannot get it to dial. I haven ttried to get phoco to activate the audio gateway but the pc and phone does work with audio gateway so I am not concerned with this just yet.

is there certain AT commands that can read the phone book? Then to dial the number does phoco issue a ATD?

I am trying to get a definitive list of AT commands for iDen phones, I am really not coming up with anything except this doc which is sorta helpful.

okay, that will work. so this leaves me with getting the phone to dial a number as a audio call, currently when it makes the call it is actually setting up a data call. not what we want it to do. I have a doc from motorolla on the iDEN DTE/DCE spec and it has the entire AT command set for iDEN. I couldnt find anything relevent. May need to call moto support or nextel support to see if this is possible. My hunch is that its not, I will have to live with dialing on the phone and just using the audio gateway.

Damn Nextel....

...btw, connecting to the internet with this phone works well. With the WiDEN technology I get like 8KBytes transfer. Might good enough for a voice session with MSN Messenger.

Please mail me the PhoneCtlLog.txt. I'll have a look at it.

Zorro,

I cracked this biatch....

you have send some AT commands before dialing to make a voice call. Here they are. Better yet, here is the blurb on the DTE_DCE doc.

Voice Services
The DTE/DCE Interface allows the DTE to initiate an interconnect (voice) call from
the iDEN subscriber unit. In order to accomplish this, the WDS-side-stack must be set
to Circuit Data (+WS46=23) and the service class must be set to Voice (+FCLASS=8 or
#CLS=8). Any subsequent dial strings will be interpreted as requests for voice
interconnect service.

I am going to email you this doc. Can you please put support for Nextel iDEN phones in your program so it can send this initalization string to the phone before its use. I need to find how I can accomplish this next. Is there a place in your program that will do this....

I am excited. I tried this with the usb cable, I have to test with BT but it should work all the same.

Happy New Year!!!!!

Yes, it is. Simply add these commands into the AdditionalInit option i.e. +WS46=23;+FCLASS=8
This command will be sent when the phone is initialized.

BTW: If this is working let me know and I'll fork out a free license for your effort.

Open the configuration with Extended Configurator, then select the Communication [xxx] section whereas xxx is what's applied under UseCommConfig.
For furter instructions on Extended Configurator have a look here: http://zhorvat.dyndns.org/PCForums/S...aspx?PostID=38

Yes, so far I can get the phone to do a voice dial. It works well. All you have to do is follow Zorrors instuctions. There is a program called Extended Configuator from there select the phone profile youre using, i.e Motorola then press the Append Child button and select AutoInit. In the right window add this information in the Context box +WS46=23;+FCLASS=8

As for switching over to BT audio, the phone seems like its trying to switch over but then it seems to disconnect and go back to the serial connection. Not sure why but mabey Zorro can shed some light on that. Zorro, how are you telling the BT manager to drop the serial connection and switch to audio. Can this be simulated with commands?

Zorro,

I already have the proper setting in as per m-ruters post but it still dosent work for me. The phone seems to connect to the audio gateway for a second then drops it and goes back to serial. Not sure why.

on another note, have you considered using nextels iden sdk to implement the features of the phone into your program?

No. I makes no sense for me to implement something I can't test.

Thats odd, I thought you made the program for commerical use. If thats the case why not just buy a nextel phone to use.

Zorro, I must say, that was a very discouraging comment to make. Clearly, there are many phones and many compatibility issues to address and I am not sure what your motovation is to even have made phoco what it is but clearly if this is a business or a product you are investing to sell to the public then by all means do what you need to to aquire the right hardware to develop the program a little furthur. I do have a nextel i205 phone that I can give you for development purposes if that would pursuade you but please dont avoid something because you're not going to use the feature or dont have a device to support it.

I think what zorro is trying to say is that since he lives in Germany and there is no Nextel network there, he can't test the program.
