Nice going, Robby

I have my setup all soldered up, so will probably get the sensors fitted on the weekend, to test it out.

Came out well, and I have to admit, DeJan's PCB's looks very good - I am awaiting a 2nd one to finish off for AllyPally, just got the 1st one yesterday.

I am considering designing a new board for those that wants to use the data-out line on the connector from theTPMS, and possibly locate this board inside the original unit, with a USB cable soldered to the PIC PCB, and an USB plug of one end to connect to the PC.

Should work pretty well, just need to check space inside the original housing.

Looking forward to your test software though, will make things easy for us.

Thnx for your efforts, it is appreciated!

just a quick question, is the 3rd eye kit mounted completely internally or is it sensors similar to tire valve caps ?

The 3rd eye sensors are suited for mounting inside the tubeless tyre replacing the existing valve stem.

Has anyone tried a diffrent TMPS system, like the Valet?

I suggest you read the last few pages of the thread, it answers your question.

Enjoy.

I choose the Waeco TPMS (www.waeco.com) stuff for only 100 Euro and with 4 sensors but without a display (which I, and I guess you guys too, don't need) and it would be good to have a system from a vendor "with a name" (in 5-6 years if you need new sensors - but the batteries could be exchanged easily).

Can you verify which Rf-chip is on your receiver board? Is it the same TDA5200 ASK Receiver, or not - if different, can you give us a part number, please Fmode

@ Almera: Are you running Roadrunner when you launch the Configurator?

You have to - just launching the configurator without running RR frontend will not "detect" any id's from any wheel-sensors.

As soon as you foolow Robby's install-tips in the RR plugin forum, and then launch RR, and then the configurator, you can press the "learn" button for any sensor, and it will blink a few times, and then stop blinking.

After a short while, you may see some flashing red alarms in RR on the TPM screen, indicating - press and temps, albeit incorrectly, meaning that the sensors is communicating to the PIC, and the PIC to the plugin s/ware on your frontend.

the problem is there is no number on this receiver... and I can't look inside (if you are really interested I can try to get a small hole...)...
your TDA5200 will need analog discrete parts to work... but you are a very tough I guess ...
or didn't you find a source for complete receiver-modules ?
Here is one:
http://www.funkmodul.com/funkmodule/empfaenger.htm
you should take ERX-06 because it has the max. sensitivity...

Where did you get your tire sensors ? Why don't you buy the Waeco Kit with Receiver ? (4 sensors = 99 Euro , 4 sensors+receiver = 99 Euro ) (or do you want to build/sell a finished kit ?)

Erm, I have the 3rd Eye kit, and I made one working setup based on Robby's PIC, but I am just interested to know if yours use the Maxim IC or the TDA chip - my bet is your's is very similar to the ERX-06 you linked to....

I would like to develope a smc solution, which includes RF Receiver, Robby's PIC (but SMC) all onto one pcb, which would make it easier, cheaper, and much smaller.

Just luv tinkering, that's all

edit: There is a very nice Max1473 evaluation kit available, which I can very easily adjus to suit our needs, and provided Robby can provide TSOP 18F2550's, it would be very easy to do an industrial-grade, robust design

I am awaiting pricing on the eval kit, will keep everyone posted.

Thanks, actually I have succeed in the learning process, but still can't see any data in RR. Checked plugin configuration also, seems ok. Maybe something wrong with my hardware, thanks for help, cheers

Wait so Robby, can I use this to test my receiver if I DO NOT have the sensors installed in my wheels?
