From what I can put together it looks like it should be at least 1.5-2 meters away from the sensors and will work as far out as 10 meters.
Thankfully my new center console has a hiden compartment which I can put Lok's kit into. It sits right square in the middle of the car. Also Lok, is it ok to buy the unit from you via paypal and then you bring it to the meet or would you rather I pay you then?

Hello Alok,
I have ordered and received from this supplier in Launceston in Tasmania.
They are pretty close to Melbourne, and service from Maurice was exceptional Antenna very well-made, similar to that on a 2-way radio - semi flexible, and around 15cm tall.
We need to use the female SMA adapter on the pcb, as most of thses antenna's have the male pin on the antenna side.
Did you receive the email with supplier info for the SMA connectors I emailed from my Metso account yesterday?
edit: They also have the proper SMA connectors we need for this application.
If you can send me one of the new boards for this sma connector, but without the connector and antenna, I will return my old board, and buy the connector (I now have a commercial antenna too) and do some serious testing for you
@ Robby: Thank you for your input, it is much appreciated. I will test effects of the external antenna in my rather large vehicle, certainly smaller vehicles will be ok with the original 3rd Eye antenna.
I want to mount the receiver inside my mini-itx pc enclosure too, so need external antenna for that reason......I can only hope to strong signal wont cause mirroring/reflection problems though.

@ 2k1T: Yes, Metso Minerals is a small part of Metso, I'm in the Automation division, mostly Power and Energy, and Pulp and Paper lines.
Metso Automation website, I'm a specialist on metsoDNA control systems - they are rather huge numbers of powerful control nodes controlling entire industries.

Small world Yep, I remember Svedala before the big merger with Rauma/Valmet/Neles -> Metso. Just one Metso, as we say in the Industry. A rather large global company.
Say hey to your dad from me

@ Rahul: Yes, that's it
You still have to learn the USB receiver according to
1->LF
2->RF
3->RR
4->LR
5->Spare
And make sure to install your sensors to those specific tires - this is the default the 3rd EYE kit was setup, and will simplify the setup/learning for the USB.....
Enjoy!

Yes, that is the default 3rd Eye setup wrt the tire-locations - your connections to the USB will work as per the picture, and then you need to learn your USB interface to reflect the same tire-locations.
Basically I just confirmed the wiring-schematic you posted will work

I bought a prototype from him, its really really amazing. Comes in a nice sturdy case. Mine had a long antenna on it though, so it was a b!+ch to get in my console. I think the final product will have the coil antenna so it will be ultra portable.

Hey guys, just thought I would pop in and see how things were going with those of you who purchased a kit from me. Hijack I take it you had no issues with the new TPMS as I haven't heard back from you since the meet .
For those of you who are waiting for a kit, we should have some soon enough now, we have finalized version 2.00 and working on version 2.10 which will have 2 LED indicators, 1 to verify a USB link and the other to show valid data packets received. We are also trying to decide whether to use an internal coil antenna or an external whip, but we will decide that after some more testing has been done.
By the way Mr.Bean, Hijack is using one of the antennas you suggested from Antenna Factor and I believe in my testing it proved in increase the range of the device to about 15 meters while keeping the minimum distance at about 1 meter. You can ask him more about the performance of the new style antenna. I am going to try out the others when I get the new board made, I have a picture of which ones I plan to try attached. We decided against using connectorized antennas as it would open up a lot of room for problems and also they are significantly more expensive than using one without a connector.
And those of you waiting for kits, just hang on a little longer, its just the matter of time before you should see them on the MP3car store.
