With those of us with the original pic/board, there were issues with the packets not being recieved and the OS not recongnizing the device upon resuming...
Are these hardware issues that we won'tbe able to fix, or software related?
If hardware, is the firmware upgradeable?

Hi,
For original design boards is avalible new version of Firmware v2.0 which have improved learning function. Your after resuming problem is problem of software or if you use USB hub... In CF I think that Wolfgang has fixed problems after resume, but Im not test this function yet...
What do you mean with packet lost? Yesterday Im test my board with TPMS Doctor, distance from sensors and receiver has been 2-3m and Im not see any problems. When pressure has changed TPMS doctor need around 3-5s to recognise that...

So how do I find out what firmware version I have? And how do I update?

You can't know which version you have. V2.0 Im receive cca. 2 weeks ago so I think it is not older than 1-2 months. If you are buy unit from me then you have v 1.0...
You can't update it, because you must have PIC programator and HEX file(Which you can't get)...
As Im say changed is only learning procedure which learn little faster than in v1.0 so it is not important update...

By the way Mr.Bean, Hijack is using one of the antennas you suggested from Antenna Factor and I believe in my testing it proved in increase the range of the device to about 15 meters while keeping the minimum distance at about 1 meter.
Thanx Alok, good to know the range has increased by that much - will help big time in larger vehicles, and assist in overcoming the wheel-body barrier.
Nice
@ Hijack: Keep us posted, sounds you've got it down pat.

I'm tried plugging the device in on all my fixed USB ports, and everytime I resume to Windows or CF, it's "Not Connected"...
As a matter of fact, even doing a full restart, sometimes the TPMS isn't connected...
I guess I didn't describe my issue very well in the last post...
I was only ever able to 'learn' the device once (50 tries!), after which it stopped displaying any new data...only the 'learned' data...

For those of you who are waiting for a kit, we should have some soon enough now, we have finalized version 2.00 and working on version 2.10 which will have 2 LED indicators, 1 to verify a USB link and the other to show valid data packets received. We are also trying to decide whether to use an internal coil antenna or an external whip, but we will decide that after some more testing has been done.
By the way Mr.Bean, Hijack is using one of the antennas you suggested from Antenna Factor and I believe in my testing it proved in increase the range of the device to about 15 meters while keeping the minimum distance at about 1 meter. You can ask him more about the performance of the new style antenna. I am going to try out the others when I get the new board made, I have a picture of which ones I plan to try attached. We decided against using connectorized antennas as it would open up a lot of room for problems and also they are significantly more expensive than using one without a connector.
And those of you waiting for kits, just hang on a little longer, its just the matter of time before you should see them on the MP3car store.
LOL, no I havent had any issues, but I also dont have the sensors in yet. Im trying to wait till I have to replace my tires before I put them in. Only thing I hate is when coming out of hibernation, sometimes I hear the NO TPMS Detected... I havent figured out how to turn the voice off. Thats a plugin issue though.

Wungun did you get the email from me about getting your board reflashed?? The reason your device is doing that is because you have firmware revision 1 which cannot handle the new style sensors with the "CE" mark. If you have purchased the board from me I am offering to reflash the board with the new firmware all you have to do is ship it in and send me a payment for $10 to cover the cost of the new chip going on your board. Send me an email to sales@portalmediapc.com, so we can take care of you.
Also I thought the resume hibernation bug was fixed by wolfgang, I will test it out here and see if I am getting the same issue from resume/hiberation. As I stated earlier, we are working on a new plug-in which we hope will solve all of the issues you guys are having and also add a little more functionality to the device. It may be some time before we can release it.

Gizmo the board I sent you is revision 2.00, bascially if I shipped your board out after March 3rd then you have revision 2.00, if it was before that, chances are you have revision 1.00. As Dejan said there isn't much of a difference other than in the learning procedure. The other major difference is that 3rd eye decided to do a firmware update on their end as they were persuing the CE certification so in the last shipment of sensors I was given a mixed bag of both the new and old style sensors. Both sensors work just as well but there was a small change in the packets which caused the new style sensors (with "CE" mark) to not be able to learn with with version 1.00 of our firmware. Version 2.00 fixes that issue and those of you that have purchased a board from me and have had issues getting the board to learn sensors I would strongly urge you to send your board in so that you can get it reflashed. Its only $10 and it will get your board to work correctly.
There is no other way to update the firmware, as Dejan has stated, it requries a programmer and hex code, both of which most of you don't have access to.
Also I just want to specify that I can only reflash the board that I have sold, I cannot reflash the boards that have been "hacked" as they use a different style PIC chip.

First I've heard of the reflash...
I'll be in touch. Thanks!!!
BTW, If it's just a chip replacement, can't I just purchase the chip from you and install it myself?
Also, I can't remember if I bought it from you...I think I did

If you have the microcontroller (PIC) mounted on a socket in your board, probably you bought it from Dejan, in this case, if you send me the chip, I can update your firmware, just drop me a PM.

Okay...so all I need to do is pull the chip and send it, not the whole device?
Thanks

About the 'no device' issue...it seems to be a Windows/hardware issue, not a plugin issue. When I resume, I see the USB icon pop up, and then 'Unknown Device'...

Have you try to update the USB driver of your motherboard? I know many users have solved this problem with a simple drive update.

@Robby BMW
Why not include an USB bootloader to the MCU so owners can always update the device with new fimrware versions themselves, directly from the carputer without the need of any special programming hardware? If you want to avoid firmware piracy and don't want people to be able to program other MCU's with your raw HEX-file, then just use an AES, XTEA or similar encryption bootloader. Then people can't make their own programmed MCU copies, but only updgrade the programmed MCU's they once purchased with the built in encryption bootloader and a valid key already programmed in the boot section of the flash memory.
A secure encryption USB bootloader would be a nice addition to the next firmware version, so owners wont have to take apart their car and return their devices and wait for firmware upgrades but can do it themselves right away from the carputer via USB just by downloading an encrypted firmware HEX-file form your website.
Here's an open source USB PIC Bootloader with XTEA encryption: http://www.diolan.com/pic/bootloader.html
XTEA encryption algorithm is used to protect privacy of firmware application updated with USB PIC Bootloader.
