Carnetix p1900 and mac mini

I hope this is the best place to post this question. Also search hasn't been working for me in the threads so hopefully this hasn't been answered already. So here goes. I am install a mac mini intel based computer in my wrangler. I will be using "Carnetix CNX-P1900 Ver. 2.2 Dual Output 140 Watt 12V DC-DC Regulator" as my converter. Now when i went to the site that makes them i seen some cables you can buy that would allow you to connect the converter and the mac mini together without and splicing(this is good for me because i want to use my mini in the home too without destroying the AC cable) next to those cables it says

So i am not really positive what the resistor mod is for (I think its for sleep and stand bye mode)and or if it is necessary to have it. Reason being is that I really really don't want to soder things to the inside of my mini. If something goes wrong with it you can kiss my warranty goodbye. So any help would be great! thanks in advance and I can't wait to post my pictures after i am done!

I'm not an expert. I've installed a P1900/Mac mini one time.

The Carnetix PSU w/ the MacPac cable kit is ridiculously easy to install.
We did not do the resistor mod, but I believe this allows the Carnetic to sleep and resume normally.
Without doing that, the owner has to press the sleep (or power) button on the Mac after ignition to get it to come on.

I believe this resistor mod is the solution for this user. I would ask people just to be certain.

If you have V2.2 you will not need the resistor mod...

One other quick question. Do you think it would be better to steal the power from my head unit to power my inverter or to just run to the battery?

Both, actually.
You need +12v constant (from the battery) and +12v switched by ignition (from the headunit or some other ignition-switched circuit).

I typed that wrong. I did not mean get power from my wire harness from my cd player. I meant that the cd player is tied into the ignition is it not? If so i should be able to splice the yellow wire from the inverter into that wire harness to get it to work. If this won't work then i guess I will have to go searching for the main ignition wire. Let me know if this will work thanks
