Dell inspiron battery?

I am thinking of buying the Carnetix CNX-P1900 Ver. 2.2 Dual Output 140 Watt 12V DC-DC Regulator for my dell inspiron 1100 laptop. The battery on my laptop is dead. I know its dead and the computer does work if i take my battery from my other laptop. If i hook the laptop to the carnetix which i know how to do. will the carnetix be able to turn the computer on? and will it stay on? Next question intails extending the wires from the screen. can it be done?

Anyone? Will the carnetix bypass the main battery on my laptop?

The carnetic provides power just like an AC power adapter would. So if the laptop will run with an AC power adapter, then it will work with the Carnetix.

I would go with a kensington travel power supply, pretty cheap on ebay. I dont know that you will need to carnetix, but its your ride. How much is a new battery for that thing?

The carnetix has a startup/shutdown controller built in. That will allow the ignion to control startup/shutdown of the PC.

A new battery will cost me 160 without shipping. And the computer doesn't power on even when the Ac adapter is hooked up. When i put my battery from my other dell laptop in it, it powers up. I want to know if there is a way to bypass the battery so i don't have to buy a new battery for a computer that is 4 years old.

Because a new battery will be 160 and the lap top needs a new CD/DVD drive thats another 70.

Hard drive yes, RAM no. If you have to ask this, then you might need to read up a bit on computers. A CarPC is cool, but when you get a BSOD or something, something tells me you wont be able to fix it by yourself.

So either you need a lot of money to pay people to fix the problems, or a little bit more knowledge of computers.

And you dont need a new battery for a laptop that you will be powering off of a Carnetix. And why would you need an optical drive either? Store everything on the HD and be done with it.

Use a travel adapter and wire some relays to your car and power button
