Jeep Compass Ignition M2-ATX

I took apart the jeep compass HU and got all the wires figured out except the ignition power.
There are 2 + from the battery and 2 grounds, but no + igntion cables. I tested the + with a voltmeter to be sure.
For the M2-atx, how would that work?

--- + battery
--- + ignition
--- ground
?
and for the amp, would the power remote (12V or something) plug into the m2-atx board? (for that anti-thump)

Tap into any line that is switched by the ignition.
Likely sources are the headunit wiring harness and a cigarette lighter (assuming it's only functional when the car is on)

I can't help you with the remote amp wire. It should say something about that in the manual, though.

could I safely run the amp, computer and whatever is plugged into the cigarette outlet all on 1 wire from the cigarette outlet?

No.

The cigarette lighter was a suggestion for the ACC line that the M2ATX requires to trigger startup/shutdown of the PC. The M2 simply senses voltage on this line, so the amount of power draw is negligible.

The circuit for a cigarette lighter is not designed to provide current sufficient to power an amplifier or PC.
You're going to want to run a power line directly to the battery to power these. Considering the setup you're looking at, I'd suggest a power line of 4awg (or lower, depending on the anticipated draw) going to a fused distribution block, with thinner wire going to the amplifier(s) and PC.

My setup is similar to this. I have two modest amplifiers and the PC (dead, as of now). One 4awg power line running straight from the battery to a distribution block that handles both power and ground lines.

Err I mistyped it.
Is the cigarette outlet enough for the m2-atx ignition switch? I have a dedicated power running for the battery +. I did get it to run today.
Also I was able to wire up the remote amp switch to the m2-atx remote amp jumper

yes, the cigarette lighter is enough for the ignition switch. IF you have any question, nmeasure the output on it with a multimeter to make sure it goes to +12v with the ignition on and 0v with the ignition off.

The ACC line that is required by shutdown controllers is just used for sensing voltage, nothing more. AS I said, the power draw on that line is negligible.

if that jeep compass is anything like my jeep it has one lighter that is always on and one that is only on when the ignition is on. I used this for my turn on lead and it works great. I did not have to go hunting for wires :P
