Automatic Standby with Ignition

I control the pc to hibernate with the com port (rely), UPS function and the Ignition (ICC).
How will I go about to do the same but only put the pc in standby.

WHat ever you set to make it hibernate, change it to standby. That MIGHT be set in control panel>power options>advanced.

I only have Hibernate and Shutdown, e.g. I don't have standby as an option.
Is there a way to insert this option or anther program that can do this in XP?

The ability for the PC to standy and/or hibernate is a function of the BIOS.

So...
You would need to set up the option to standby in your BIOS setup.
Unfortunately, this also means that you will have to reinstall WInXP to load whatever components are required for standby, as WinXP only loads these upon installation, as far as I know.

I can enter standby when I set it up to go in standby with the power button.
I can build a controler to hit the power button on Icc on and off, but I first want to know if I can do it with software.

This is the controller I use. There is a delay on and off when switching the Ignition. The second part pulse the computer's on / off switch for about a second.

2 x relays look at the relay contacts
2 x 1000uF caps they operate the second relay
1 x 10 k resistor
1 x 100uF cap
1 x BC107 NPN transistor
The switch is the ignition (ICC)

My way of putting the computer in standby.
I use a 7805 regulator to keep 5 volt on the memory when I put the computer in standby mode.(on the power plug)
I use anther relay to switch the inverter off once the computer is in standby mode.

Arrow

Have u actually implemented this circuit - and is it working for certain. Kindly confirm.

Also considering u have knowledge on circuitry - kindly let me know the spec's of a DIODE that I should use for a TankCircuit. the ones mentioned on the forum are not available.

I am using the following setup:

DC to AC inverter - SMPS powering the Computer

now when i crank the car the inverter goes through a power surge and the Carputer reboots!

The circuit work. I am currently using it.

I use an inverter to the standard computer power supply.
I use a relay to keep the inverter on until the computer switch off. This relay gets powered from the computer power supply.
I use a second relay to switch between the main battery and the tank battery when I start the car. This relay gets powered from the wire going to the starter.

I am using a 2A diode between the main and tank battery.

Make sure that the tank battery is fully charged
