I am having trouble with the Opus 250w power supply that I just bought.

The computer and power supply are being bench tested and I have not installed them in my car yet.

I just received the power supply about 2 days ago.

I have powered up the computer numerous times with a standard computer power supply.

After hooking up the psu to a car battery and re checking everything (battery voltage, all connections including wire gauge)the computer will not turn on. There is no indication what so ever that the computer is receiving power. The Opus psu will flash the green light twice.
According to the manual it can mean one of 4 things

-the polarity of the 2 wire power switch connector from J9 to the ATX mother board is incorrect.

-the atx mother board bios settings are incorrect

-locked up mother board or soft ware crash

-Faulty DC-DC power supply

Every time I have tried to power up the computer with the Opus I have not had any luck. I have tried both polarity positions of the 2 wire mother board power on switch. Every time the Opus has failed I have followed up with a successful power up with a standard power supply. This leads me to believe that I can eliminate the first 3 reasons for the green light flashing twice.

The only other issue that I have had is an alarming noise from the power supply that sounds like screech. this starts after about 10 seconds and does not subside. I believe that the sound emanates from small grey box about 20mm in length and width and 5mm high labeled 4R7 0637 which I believe is an output transistor. It also gets extremely hot to touch.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have called opus numerous times and have been stuck on hold. I have left messages and received no response back. I am really frustrated and wish that I had bought a different power supply.

Who am I likely to have a quicker replacement with mp3 or Opus?

Be persistent. OPus is a great company, and there are a large number of members here who have praised their tech support.

I can say that I got a replacement for my 320 watt Opus from MP3.com store in a reasonable amount of time.

More importantly though, My opus doesn't make any noise when it's operating. So yours sounds like it's broken.

Just send it back and get a replacement. worked for me and I couldn't be happier.

aside from an ebay touch screen I am not running anything else to draw power.

could have a bad ground. make sure the turn on switch is hooked to the correct two pins on the motherboard. the green/white wire on the opus ps to the board
