Power Filter - What Equipment?

Hey all, i currently have a 5 amp power filter hooked up in parrallel with my computer (draws 3-3.5 amp) and my scan converter (30ma). but i want to seperate the two, so which one should i leave the power filter attached to? IM thinking the computer, but i didint want to lose video quality not having the scan converter power filtered.

I was going to run the scan converter off the cigarette lighter power (as it draws so little current) and the computer off the battery.. an thoughts? cheers
