Should I just splice the 12 V positive cable and connect it to both the positive and ignition inputs on the PSU?

I wouldn't recommend putting a switch on your +12v power wire and splicing to +12v and rem. That kinda defeats the purpose of having a startup/shutdown controller. If you're worried about draining your battery from a PC that won't shut down, then just adjust the power kill jumper on the M2 to something that sounds reasonable. I have mine set to kill the power at 1 minute, because my PC always hibernates before then.

I think what you're trying to do here is what's called a "valet switch", where you have a manual switch on the ignition/acc/remote line so you can control whether the carpc (and/or amps) turns on or not. I've got one of these and it's great. Your remote line can be very small wire (like 18 or even 24 awg) because it only needs like 200 ma to tell the M2 to turn on. Wire it to the cigarette lighter to get ACC power.
