Opus 120W with front panel push switch

Hi all,

I recently bought a Xenarc MDT-X7000 flip out monitor which has a PC power button on the front. Does anybody know how to connect this to allow powering the PC up from the head unit (the push switch) but powering down via the Opus?

Is this even possible?

The Opus manual mentions (briefly) about mode 2 (push button mode) but it's only 2 lines of text. Can anybody expand on this?

If the push button on the MDT-X7000 has a an "in" and "out" lead, you can wire it in-line with the ACC line to your Opus and use it like a valet switch for your PC.

Thanks for your quick reply.

The Xenarc has 2 wires which connect directly to the M/B. When you press the button, it momentarily shorts the wires therefore turning the PC on.

My problem is this: The PC powers on fine when I press the button, but when I press it to turn the PC off, Windows starts to hibernate but about a second later the Opus cuts all power and everything hard powers off.

I don't see any way of conneting these wires in-line with the ACC line. Also, I don't know what a "valet" switch is.

Can you please explain?

Basically a switch on the ACC line (or IGN line). That would be the switched power line that runs to the Opus that tells it when to boot up or shut down the PC.

By putting a switch on this line, you can manually turn the PC on/off with the switch. It would control the power on the ACC line, which is what the opus uses to trigger startup/shutdown. If the PC is on and you turn the switch off, then the Opus will trigger shutdown (or hibernate or standby, as appropriate).
If the PC is off (and the ignition is hot) and you turn on the switch, the PC will boot up.

the other benefit is that you can turn the switch off if you're having a valet park your vehicle, then the PC will stay off, preventing them from messing with it.
