Opus 320W Connector Selection

Sorry if this is an extremely newb question but here goes:

I'm planning on this mobo: ASUS P5E-VM

However the specifications show a 24pin power connector for the mobo. I want to make sure that when purchasing the Opus PSU that I'm wright in thinking of selecting the BTX 24-Pin power connector. It's just a bit odd for me to select BTX when I'm used to the 20pin ATX.

Thanks!

I'd contact Opus directly and verify that the 24-pin motherboard connector is genuinely ATX-compliant.
If it is not, then you can purchase (or make) a 20-24pin adapter.

This was confusing to me as well when I ordered my PSU. I ended up ordering the 320W BTX PSU to get the 24 pin connector. Then I got a little worried after I ordered it not knowing exactly what the differences was between BTX and ATX, however I tested my PSU with a standard desktop PSU and my computer booted fine, I didn't go much past booting though. Also when it first arrived I had the wrong PSU, packaging mixup like said in this thread http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/powe...ply-mixup.html A simple email to OPUS and they gave me an account number to return the wrong unit and shipped out the correct one to me very quickly. Good company to deal with. This is the mobo I am using: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128045

I just did a bit of searching after reading this thread and found this http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/powe...pus-320-a.html seems to be helpful.

Thanks for the replies, I sent Opus an email earlier this morning. I would not have been concerned about the issue if it were as simple as the mobo has a 20-pin + 4-pin connectors but the connector is all inclusive as far as the pins go.....

I'm planning on still getting the 24-pin btx option. Funny I've been building pc's for over 6yrs now and I'll admit this is the first time I've even really put thought into the power connectors for the power supply Guess I have always taken for granted just getting the same form factor PSU for the desktops.

Did you ever get a reply?

Nope never did but it I ordered the cable for the 24pin connection and it's working great. In the end it may not have mattered to be honest as I'm able to run the pc off a 20pin old atx psu as well.

I had actually forgotten about this post so thanks for reminding me.
