DSATX Brainstem

Help - been playing with this a little and cant get anything out of it... and cannot find much info on the brainstem but I did follow the DSATX manual instructions for it.

Looks like it is operating OK, both LEDs(red and amber) on the brainstem are lit until I start hyperterminal and then the amber LED goes out, nothing comes out at all and no response to anything entered in the terminal.... is it normal for the amber LED to go out when hyperterminal and/or comfoolery are running???

I Dont think so.

And for clarification the red LED is on all the time the main power supply is hooked up, amber LED comes on when the computer starts up but goes off once I start hyperterminal and/or comfoolery - what port does everybody use??

I have a problem with the Brainstem adapter. If I it to the DSATX do not attach start my PC any longer correctly. It starts, goes out however equivalent again. And the LED of the DSATX flashes 4 or 5 times. What does that lie?? If I the Brainstem do not attach function everything normally. A RESET I made, it help also not.

Below is the description of the LED codes from the DSATX manual - 4 blinks is over or under temperature settings and 5 blinks is a fault or overload. What do you mean by a reset??

3.3. LED Codes
· OFF = System Off / Sleep Mode
· ON = Running Mode, the computer starts up in this mode (does not indicate computer is on)
· 1 blinks = Main Countdown Timer
· 2 blinks = Power Down (after shutdown pulse is sent)
· 3 blinks = N/A
· 4 blinks = Over or Under Temperature Condition. (Are you using a fan?)
· 5 blinks = Power Supply Overload or Fault (ACC must go low to clear a fault)

I know the flashing codes. it is however no temperature problem or like that. It is because of the Brainstem, it gives still different user those the same problem has.

I programmed my DSATX with the new(!?) firmware 1.14, now functions everything again. I could eliminate the problem with the Brainstem by change of a value in the config of the DSATX.
it was programmed an incorrect entry.

I received the update as first directly from Jeff Mucha (of mpegbox.com). And then later again of Jeremy Carmack. I can offer it to you here for the Download if you would like.

.

The firmware can be programmed completely simply over the Brainstem! The DSATX to 12 V attach and then programming with the Home-PC! Took with me only few seconds. Please Control afterwards all Settings over hyperterminals or the like! From first to the last Settings! And then it will function!
