Question DSATX Shutdown Question

I am in the process of configuring my DSATX power supply.

I have everything working correctly as it seems, but when the power supply hits the shutdown counter and tells the computer to shutdown i still get the windows screen asking me if i want to shutdown, restart or standby mode.

How can i get it to shutdown immediately without that prompt. Is it a setting in windows?

ALso, i know this a little of topic, but i am able to program the brianstem through the hyperterminal.

I have updated the firmware, resetting settings to default, able to hard code shutdown counter, but i can't get the dsatx feed on to work.

When i originally hooked up the brianstem and first used the hyperterminal the feed was on by default. So, i immediately hit cabital 'O' to turn it off.

Now when i enter the following nothing happends:

'E' to enable writing
'F' to turn feed on

Nothing happends, but if i try to program the dsatx it works fine.

Go to Power option properties in control panel, advanced tab, there is a drop down menu for you to choose what happens when you press the power button (which is what the DSATX is doing for you).

Choose shut down immediately.

Thanks for your help, but i already have this option set in Power Options.

I currently have it set to shutdown when the power button is pressed, but i still receive the prompt.

Even if the dsatx is not hooked up, but just a regular power supply i still see the same effect.

I jsut want to sort this out because i dont want to have to manually push shutdown everytime i pull the ignition from my car.

This is just a hunch, but there might need to be a setting in the BIOS for something like this - I recall settings like S1 or S3 for suspend or something like that. I'm at work right now so I can't check any of this - just thought I'd jump in with something quick to try.

Thanks for the help, but i have no settings in the bios that relate to S1 or S3 for suspend mode.

What does everyone else do for this?

If your hardware has no options, then you're really SOL.
A new motherboard would be required.

Go back to your shutdown options for the power button, select every option to shutdown and see what happens.

Other than that, pretty much what darque said............

Just check that you are shorting the SHUTDOWN pins on the motherboard header.
Some boards have SHUTDOWN and SUSPEND pins completely seperate.

If you are shorting the SUSPEND pins, obviously its gonna try the suspend selected option.
Do your testing with a push button switch - itll save you time waiting for the DSATX timer to run down. Once you have it setup correctly, then switch over to the DSATX making sure to check the connector polarity.

hope that helps

Yes, the problem was due to the suspend mode being on the motherboard pins.

I have corrected by pins for pwr, rst, hdd, pwr led and it will shutdown the compupter without the prompt now.

Thanks everyone for their help..
